very well in a cardboard box with everything bubble wrapped and taped together so I had
no worries about anything being broken. I washed it all before assembling it just for safety's sake and found no chips, cracks, or defects. Once dried, I was able to put it together without any issues. There is a huge, page length diagram which is very simple and easy to understand, that shows how to assemble this dish rack. As long as you aren't rushing and/or trying to force it, this rack's pieces all slide and snap into place quite easily. There was no rust on it, as it's brand new; however, I will try to remember to come back to this review at a later time and update it if rust starts to show up. I went with this dish rack, despite its' high price point, simply because of its' size. It is next to impossible to find a decently large dish rack and I figured this way even if the top does eventually break off (not that I expect it to) that the bottom is still completely usable and is as large as my old Rubbermaid dish rack. Also, I like having the additional little rack for the cutting board, and getting the 2 types of draining boards so I can choose how to deal with drips was a bonus!
Possible Cons:
For me, the silverware holder is way too huge, but if you have a large family, maybe that would be handy. It also is a bit awkward to deal with as you either have to navigate over it to put the dishes in the bottom part (if you snap it to the front) or drip on everything getting the silverware to the back (if you snap it to the back). If you set up your dish rack in a different way (mine is on my counter lengthwise so I can use the drainboard tray), maybe you can avoid this problem.
I thought I wouldn't use the knife holder, as I wash, dry, and return my knives to their block immediately after use; but, I've ended up using it for my butter knives and it works great. Also, if you're the type of person who leaves your knives in the dish drainer, I can see how it would be handy to have a separate place for them for safety reasons.
The one thing I have not ended up using are the cup clips, it's probably just because I'm not used to that style of cup drying device, but I just don't feel like they have enough room for the cups to really sit down in there and be held down by gravity, it feels like they are wedged in and like they might pop back off, so I just don't use them. To be fair, this has never happened, it's just how I feel.
I should also mention, if you are like me and have square bowls, they are not going to work with the bowl rack in the bottom portion of the drainer; if you have round bowls it should be fine. My square plates and bowls fit perfectly fine in the top portion though, so no harm done.
The little mat that is included to put under the dish rack is only okay, it's free so it's fine, but I will probably replace it with a better, thicker one eventually.
Overall: I am very satisfied with my purchase and would recommend it to others.

I just moved and needed a dish rack for the new kitchen (flat mate likes to actually use the dish-washer which is where I used to dry my dishes) and so time for a dish rack. I don't like dish racks-- they take up space and are often poorly built, rust, smell, are hard to clean, etc.
I did my research and ordered this Rack. When my friends and family found out what I paid for it, I was labeled as crazy. But I figured if I'm going to get something I don't like, I might as well get a good product that I might actually like.
When my rack came, the drip tray was unfortunately cracked on one of the corners. I was skeptical about sending PremiumRacks an e-mail-- they are a small business, but I also thought "what's the worst they can say?"...
I shot off an e-mail and not even 1 minute (I swear) later I had a response from the owner of PremiumRacks saying a new drip tray would be on its way as soon as my address was confirmed. Working with their support has been incredible-- and makes this whole thing feel premium.
The rack itself is very well built-- and looks great. It's hyper functional and well thought out. It's not HUGE, but not tiny-- and it's very cleverly designed and assembled.
Honestly if you are in the market for a great rack that definitely exudes quality and great design, look no further! This is a great dish drying rack. But then add to that that the company stands behind their product, and is hyper responsive about taking care of it's customers-- Money can't buy that.
The price is totally justified. Spend the extra bucks and invest in the last rack you will ever need!
After much research, this dish rack seemed to fit the bill. Like those of you reading this review, I heavily rely on others' feedback on products before making a purchase. So, after using this dish rack for the past couple of months, here are my thoughts on various aspects of the product.
I like that there is a specific spot to hold a large cutting board and that the rack is not daunted by the weight. It doesn't tip when it is otherwise empty and my large (18 x 24 inch), wooden cutting board is placed in its slot. However, my cutting board is made of Hinoki, so it's light weight. Also, it's about 3/4" thick. I don't think a cutting board of 1" thickness or more would fit into the slot.
I like that it is large enough to hold my largest pressure cooker (big enough for 4 lobsters) and not tip over. Large stockpots, 7 gallon carboys, 10 gallon fermentation crocks, and the like also find a stable and sturdy resting place to dry. It easily handles even heavy Le Creuset, All Clad stainless, and cast iron pots, pans, skillets, and woks, as well as a multitude of mixing bowls and bakeware. So yes, it is large, sturdy, and well built.
The cutlery basket is capacious and would probably hold an entire 8-place setting of table ware (I have two dishwashers, so I almost never have to wash table ware). However, it would be nice if it was just a tad deeper, so that kitchen utensils, such as ladles, spatulas, tongs, etc. could stand in the basket without falling out. Again, I rarely wash these by hand, but for those who do, just a thought.
It is nice to be able to customize the rack somewhat. However, it is not as customizable as you would be led to believe. It is physically possible to place certain pieces only in one or two locations, so you can't really change it up all that much. You can definitely customize the rack for left-hand or right-hand placement, depending on the space around your sink, by placing the knife basket and cutting board holder on the side most convenient for you. And you can put the upper tier at the front or back, whichever you please. But the cutlery basket is curved, so you can only put it at the front, which you'll want to do anyways, as it would need to drip over the sink. That brings me to another criticism, the drip tray, drain board, or whatever you want to call it.
The "drain" board doesn't drain very well. It's smaller than the dimensions of the wire basket. Hence, it doesn't catch drips from the entire drain basket, never mind the attachments, such as the knife basket, cutting board rack, or utensil basket. That's probably why the company compromised and provided a mat (which, by the way, is rather shabby -- it landed in the Salvation Army box). Also, the drain board is really of poor quality. It is molded of some crappy plastic that is warped enough that it does not drain, even when installed at an angle. It is necessary to either dump it out frequently or raise one side of the entire strainer on something so that water does not stand and overflow onto the counter (or onto the dish mat, which could cause mold and mildew if you didn't pay attention). But if you have to put the strainer "on blocks" to accomplish this, the stability is compromised and it looks not so chic (much like a car "on blocks" in one's front yard). It would have been far more preferable (to me, anyways) to have a drip tray that extended further on all sides to catch the run off from the entire basket and attachments. Perhaps that would have made it too large for those with limited counter space? At the very least, the entire set should have been designed so that the drain board could actually drain -- slightly longer legs on one end of the basket and better molding/plastic for the board itself.
The knife holder, while a terrific idea, is for wimpy, skinny knives. Certainly, paring and steak knives fit. However, my Shun and Global chef knives do not. Come to think of it, one of my Shun paring knives doesn't even fit all of the way in -- about an inch of the blade is exposed. Don't even think about putting in a cleaver, brisket, bread, or other wide or long blade in the knife holder. Luckily, we are all adults in this house and are accustomed to the very sharp arsenal lurking in my kitchen, but if you are concerned with protecting kiddly-winks and klutzes, this knife holder may not provide adequate protection from sharp edges. For me, I just use one of the hanging accessory trays to place knives in plain view.
While not a fan of plastic in general, It is understandable that it was unavoidable in a dish rack. It is nice that none of the plastic parts are absolutely vital to the function of this rack (with the exception of the drain board). If and when the knife and table ware baskets break, those components are removable and the main basket will still be of sturdy (I hope) stainless steel, as will the upper tier and cutting board rack. I cannot, however, stand the drain board and am seeking a suitable solution (too bad I didn't think to have one built into my kitchen sink/counter). The color of the plastic (black) is also not my favorite. A medium gray would have been preferable, blending in with my kitchen. If you have hard water, the black will show all of your water spots. On the other hand, if you are an untidy housekeeper, it will hide your mold and mildew (lol).
And while a drain mat is a great idea, there are ever so many other, attractive, functional, and reasonably-priced choices out there than the one that came with this set.
So, bearing in mind the flaws pointed out, it's a sturdily-built, well-packaged, and fairly-functional dish rack. And unlike other reviewers, no one has oohed and aahed over it in my kitchen. They're too busy oohing and aahing over food, drink, and festivities, as they should be! Cheers!
