- It has a plug in option
- Easy to read display (optional blue backlight can be turned off)
- Measures in 0.1g increments, and is extremely easy to use
- The bowl comes in handy to keep the actual scale plate clean and helps protect when weighing possibly magnetized items (such as PC screws)
- The functions make it very simple to pickup on (There are dwt, g, oz, and calibration options to select from - very easy to calibrate)
- Can work with batteries AND/OR house plug, making it very flexible.
- The lid stays connected, ensuring you do not lose it. It also covers the actual scale mechanism when closed, making it more secure and less likely to break if lightly damaged. Simply recalibrate and it should work (Im not suggesting smashing this thing off of a floor and trying to use it, but I like the protection aspect). Great for travel if you are collecting samples in the field or simply watching your dietary intake on a trip/at work.
CON's
- Some may think it is too large. Depending on the use, it might be, but then again, you most likely should be worrying about other hidden items if you are worried about trying to hide this device on you. It is what it is.. a precise kitchen scale. I rather call it a household scale.
- With the top not detaching, you must consider the lid when deploying the scale. It flips backward and must have enough room for it when open.
- It does not come with any calibration equipment, even though they are cheap to purchase... it is a pain when you need to buy an "add-on item" for less than $5, but can't unless you get to the Amazon limit. So it would be nice to have the option.
THOUGHTS
- I think this scale is amazing, and I love the plug function. It takes 4 AA batteries if I remember correctly, and is very easy to use. I also like that it is at least accurate beyond a gram, as I use it for measuring small pieces from PC parts, powders for paint mixtures (such as flake) and mixing correct ratios of powdered chemicals. It has been very reliable and I would recommend it to others over other scales in an instant.
Pros:
* Weighs a max 3000g at 0.1g resolution, for around 25 bucks. Cheaper then my .05g accurate scale that can only weigh up to 150g.
* This scale includes a VERY convenient bowl for weighing loose items. I used to use random tupperware containers that were much heavier and never fit right. The bottom edge of the weighing bowl has a lip on it that prevents it from sliding off.
* It runs off 4x AA batteries which last me a good month or so depending on use. Also can be powered by a 6v 300mah dc adapter (included).
* Is pretty accurate. I have a 1kg, 100g, 10g, and 1g calibration weights, plus a .05g accurate scale and a .001g scale. Even at 1kg this scale is 0.2g accurate (uncalibrated), and that's pretty impressive for this price range. I also have a postal scale that has a 1g resolution, however it's usually off 1-5g!
* 10 year warranty from a reputable company.
* Count feature, which I've only used once, but still not a common feature in cheap scales.
Cons:
* The flip lid, is great in a sense that it keeps the scare table clean, however when you flip it over to open it up it pushes up on the backside of the scale, since the back feet are no longer touching the surface this may lead to some inaccuracies .
* Takes a 2000g calibration weight, which cost more then this scale does.
It’s been used multiple times every single day for coffee and a whole lot of measuring for recipes. So maybe that’s a reasonable lifespan for a scale at this price?
If I can find a “buy-it-for-life” scale with the same features I’ll get that instead. But if I can’t, I’ll probably use one of these for the next five years.
it is a good scale and if you can get it on sale even better!!
Addendum - After much use of the scale I did find out that it does in fact have an auto-off. I did not time it but it takes about 10 minutes of complete inactivity. Still very tolerable especially compared to others I have used that shut off after 20 seconds.

It is small and the 0.1 gram accuracy is great for blueprinting and engine to make sure all the pistons and connecting rods weight the same.
