HOPEFULLY WE CAN TAKE SOME OF THE GUESSING OUT OF THE WEIGHT SITUATION...LB-3000
HOPEFULLY WE CAN TAKE SOME OF THE GUESSING OUT OF THE SITUATION... Ok, so I have read through all the questions & have read a bunch of reviews for this scale over some time and have read many conflicting comments concerning whether or not the scale comes with the calibration weights, many Comments say YES & many say NO. I received my LB-3000 Compact Bowl Scale on Oct 14, 2016 and I also thought that it came with the calibration weights from reading the Questions & also the Reviews but I didn't realize that the weights come with other models but not with the LB-3000, I also found out by reading the side of the box upon reciept that the weights are not included with this model. If you have the time to view my pics you will see that the side of the box says that they are 'Not Included' and that the Amazon description page does not state that the weights are included with the LB-3000 (learned the hard way) my review would easily have been 5 STARS without the weight confusion, Love the scale! I hope this helps someone...

PRO's
- It has a plug in option
- Easy to read display (optional blue backlight can be turned off)
- Measures in 0.1g increments, and is extremely easy to use
- The bowl comes in handy to keep the actual scale plate clean and helps protect when weighing possibly magnetized items (such as PC screws)
- The functions make it very simple to pickup on (There are dwt, g, oz, and calibration options to select from - very easy to calibrate)
- Can work with batteries AND/OR house plug, making it very flexible.
- The lid stays connected, ensuring you do not lose it. It also covers the actual scale mechanism when closed, making it more secure and less likely to break if lightly damaged. Simply recalibrate and it should work (Im not suggesting smashing this thing off of a floor and trying to use it, but I like the protection aspect). Great for travel if you are collecting samples in the field or simply watching your dietary intake on a trip/at work.

CON's
- Some may think it is too large. Depending on the use, it might be, but then again, you most likely should be worrying about other hidden items if you are worried about trying to hide this device on you. It is what it is.. a precise kitchen scale. I rather call it a household scale.
- With the top not detaching, you must consider the lid when deploying the scale. It flips backward and must have enough room for it when open.
- It does not come with any calibration equipment, even though they are cheap to purchase... it is a pain when you need to buy an "add-on item" for less than $5, but can't unless you get to the Amazon limit. So it would be nice to have the option.

THOUGHTS
- I think this scale is amazing, and I love the plug function. It takes 4 AA batteries if I remember correctly, and is very easy to use. I also like that it is at least accurate beyond a gram, as I use it for measuring small pieces from PC parts, powders for paint mixtures (such as flake) and mixing correct ratios of powdered chemicals. It has been very reliable and I would recommend it to others over other scales in an instant.

My new favorite postal, kitchen, and general use scale.

Pros:
* Weighs a max 3000g at 0.1g resolution, for around 25 bucks. Cheaper then my .05g accurate scale that can only weigh up to 150g.
* This scale includes a VERY convenient bowl for weighing loose items. I used to use random tupperware containers that were much heavier and never fit right. The bottom edge of the weighing bowl has a lip on it that prevents it from sliding off.
* It runs off 4x AA batteries which last me a good month or so depending on use. Also can be powered by a 6v 300mah dc adapter (included).
* Is pretty accurate. I have a 1kg, 100g, 10g, and 1g calibration weights, plus a .05g accurate scale and a .001g scale. Even at 1kg this scale is 0.2g accurate (uncalibrated), and that's pretty impressive for this price range. I also have a postal scale that has a 1g resolution, however it's usually off 1-5g!
* 10 year warranty from a reputable company.
* Count feature, which I've only used once, but still not a common feature in cheap scales.

Cons:
* The flip lid, is great in a sense that it keeps the scare table clean, however when you flip it over to open it up it pushes up on the backside of the scale, since the back feet are no longer touching the surface this may lead to some inaccuracies .
* Takes a 2000g calibration weight, which cost more then this scale does.

This scale is perfect in every way - plugs in, stays on, easy to read, accurate - except that it breaks after 5 years of daily kitchen use. I am back looking for a new one after it started showing runaway numbers and unstable measurements, and see that I bought it in 2019. It replaced one that did the exact same thing, and it looks like I bought that one in 2014.

It’s been used multiple times every single day for coffee and a whole lot of measuring for recipes. So maybe that’s a reasonable lifespan for a scale at this price?

If I can find a “buy-it-for-life” scale with the same features I’ll get that instead. But if I can’t, I’ll probably use one of these for the next five years.

used some precision weights I had and it was spot on...the plastic bowl they include has a lip around the edge so it fits snuggly on the scale, nice touch. Remember to open the battery compartment and pull the plastic tab out (probably worthwhile to just replace them with "better batteries" but something is better than nothing).
it is a good scale and if you can get it on sale even better!!

This is my third scale of this model very dependable, accurate and tough. I especially like the snap cover to protect everything when you’re traveling with it, or moving it around from Office to Office.
Reviewed in the United States on May 4, 2011
Checked at 10 100 300 and 500g and is right to the tenth. I really like the cover that snaps over the weight surface to protect itself. The scale does NOT have that ever annoying auto off feature, thank heaven. It gets really old having to re-weigh items because I refuse to rush through it. This scale comes with batteries and an AC adapter. The backlight can be turned on or off at the users discretion. It also has a count feature with 5, 10,20 and 50 piece averaging. The only change I would like to see is a stainless weighing surface and it would be perfect. This is every bit as good quality and accurate as the last $200 scale this is replacing - did not have a cover and the weight cell was damaged. Great little scale!!

Addendum - After much use of the scale I did find out that it does in fact have an auto-off. I did not time it but it takes about 10 minutes of complete inactivity. Still very tolerable especially compared to others I have used that shut off after 20 seconds.

This thing is surprisingly well made for the cost. It is easy to use and the folding top is great for me as I will only be using this scale a couple of times a year.
It is small and the 0.1 gram accuracy is great for blueprinting and engine to make sure all the pistons and connecting rods weight the same.

IMO this is the best scale for the price range. It's accurate and precise, and supports large loads. I use this scale for measuring out ingredients to make a knock-off version of Soylent (a sort of hacker's nutrient paste). The bowl is too large to cleanly pour into my blender without spillage, but I've worked around that by pouring it onto a folded sheet of clean paper and then into the blender. Very happy with this product.
