Buyer Beware
UPDATE: I am now on my second replacement set of the knives, fulfilled under the warranty. These too rusted second time through the dishwasher, as did the first replacement set. Please save yourself this headache and find a different brand. They have been nice about it and sent replacements without much hassle, but this is not worth my time. Have had no problems with the other utensils.As another reviewer also said, this flatware is beautiful, but the knives rust IMMEDIATELY! I will be posting pics to show the damage. The knife blade itself is not 18/10 (handle only). I feel like this is misleading, but it might be common practice and I was told that it might have to do with the weight (knife would be too heavy maybe with an 18/10 blade). My old off-brand cheap set was also 18/10 with the same handle situation, however it took them many years before they began to rust so I don't know why these would be so inferior in quality. I contacted Reed and Barton and they offered to replace the knives, but I feel like that isn't really an answer since I would just be getting the same thing.Also, be aware that with Dalton the necks of the flatware are SUPER THIN! We were bothered by it at first, but it grew on us.I gave this set three stars because everything besides the knife is good. The pieces are simple, yet attractively shaped. They are a good weight and well balanced.I did a lot of research before buying these. There is only one manufacturer that makes stainless steel flatware in the entire USA at this time. These are made in China. I was told that Reed and Barton is aware of the quality issues with this and is looking into it.I am unsure what I will do yet. This knife situation is unacceptable, but I don't really like the patterns of the USA company I mentioned and all the others are also made in China too. So I can't tell you what the right answer is, just be aware of what you are buying with these.
