I'm happy I finally bit the bullet

I'm happy I finally bit the bullet
I just received my bag today and unloaded the old and loaded the Veto! Thrilled with the quality feel of this bag. I'm in the electrical/generator field and opted for this bag over the Tech XL do to the size and I wanted the smaller pockets over the 'meter' pockets. The reason for this purchase was twofold: first, my old bag was open and when your outside a lot the closed bag for my tools is critical second, tipping! My old bag would tip over in the trucks/vans and dump my tools. I wanted a sealed bag. My friend has the XL for over 5 years and I've wanted one for a while but didn't want to dish out the cash. As of today, I'm happy I finally bit the bullet. I'm going to post some pics. Two of mine and two of my friends.

The Veto Pro Pas is the tool bag to own if you want to stay organized and keep track of your tools. With the sides down I can glance at the bag and know if I'm missing a tool. This is not a light weight bag by any means, however my tools are secure and they stay dry. I can set this bag down in an inch of standing water without getting my tools wet. The material is Heavy Duty and the zippers are smooth as silk. Just to give you an idea I replaced 3 tool bags with the Veto XL. Yes it's heavy, about 45 lbs "+", however I have everything I need to get 85% of my work completed without having to climb down the ladder and go back to my van. My co-workers make do with their "Crescent Hammers" pliers and a short list of tools. I can get the job done with the right tools because I have what I need! I really like the suit case style handle it's very stable and handles the load with comfort that you wouldn't expect from a heavy tool bag. There are velcro pads on each side of the handle which allows you to attach the strap to one side of the handle or the other, this secures the strap from dragging on the ground. I also appreciate how all the tools are in a vertical position, very easy to see and remove from their pockets. I'm an HVAC/R Journeyman Technician, I'm in this bag everyday so I can tell you it's the one to have. My friend showed me his 3 year old bag and I was shocked, I could see visible signs of wear and tear but his Veto XL still has many miles to go before it's retired. Consider the price of a tool bag and the life you get out of it, I usually pay $60.00 for a particular bag I purchase from the supply house. I go through at least 1 bag a year that's, 180.00 bucks over a three year period "without a warranty". I have a 5 year warranty, don't pay attention to the reviewer that says they have lousy service, it's obvious he didn't fill out the warranty card when he purchased his bag. I carry a Bosh 12v impact driver, a drill case up to 1/2", nut setters from 1/4"-1/2", extensions, various tips and a small case for stake on terminals, wire nuts and screws, plus all the pockets are filled and that's just one side. Believe me there is plenty of room in this bag. If you have to take your tools mobile on a roof top, a cat walk or a long walk this is the best tool bag for the job. The strap is big and well padded so the heavy load isn't that bad. If you purchase the Veto Pro Pac tool bags you'll be way ahead of the game!

I decided to spring for a Veto, and I spent part of this evening moving all my hand tools into the new bag -- the model XL, for a $120.

I cleaned everything from a Husky bag (the $35 one from HD), and still had room to spare, even though it is way more compact than the Husky.

For that kind of money, you'd expect the thing to be well made -- and it is. Head and shoulders above anything else I've seen -- CLC, Bucket Boss stuff, the HD Husky bags, etc. Only time will tell how it holds up, but it looks like something you would end up handing down to your kid.

But what impressed me most was the careful thought that went into its design. There is a nice combination of smaller pockets for specific tools -- torpedo, channelock, etc -- and wider pockets that will hold two or three pliers, for instance. Each side is identically configured with pockets. There's a 2-3" kind of tray at the bottom of the bag on each side, which is just long enough to comfortably fit a hammer, Wonder bar.

At first, I didn't see the logic of the zippered cover on each side. The bag has a slightly triangular shape (when looking at it from the end), and when the flaps are zippered up, it is really easy to carry -- no tools hitting the side of your leg, doorways. the handle is big and substantial, and they also provide a heavy duty shoulder strap.

You really have to load this thing up with your tools to appreciate it.

EDIT: I bought this bag last November and have been using it hard for about four months now. It has held up extremely well -- nary a sign of the wear and tear it has been through.

Functionally, I would say it has worked out even better than I expected it would. After you use it for awhile, you start to remember which tool goes in which pocket -- and from that point on, it is very quick and easy to find particular tools. No rummaging around in a tool box.

I still very highly recommend this tool bag.

EDIT: (SEPTEMBER, 2012). I have now been using this bag for 5 years, and I still think it is the best way to carry hand tools. It is showing very little wear, even though it has been used hard. The ONLY problem (and I mention this to demonstrate how good the bag is), one of the pulls on a zippered pocket broke off, and I had to replace it with a small piece of twisted wire.

I have used all kinds of tool storage types in the last 35 years from buckets to wide mouth all-in-one bags and everything in between. But since purchasing this XL bag from Amazon, it makes all the others inferior in comparison.
I work in a textile manufacturing plant as an electronic technician and use a modified luggage cart from Wal-Mart to carry my bag. On the areas that I cannot use my carrier, the tough and comfortable handle makes hauling my full 60 pounds of tools up several flights of stairs a breeze. Other employees stop me and ask me about the bag and when I open it up and show them the inside and they are amazed at the layout. I have accidentally dropped the bag off a conveyor system and rolled it over and over and upside down and all of my tools stayed right where I put them with no damaged to either the tools or the bag. Now that is one tough bag! My one surprise is that I have room enough inside to store my cordless impact Hitachi drill with all the accessories with room to spare!
For me the cost is well worth it considering the value you get out of the bag. It is far better construction that I ever imagined it would be and the pictures on the website and Amazon don't give it justice. You have to experience it yourself to realize the quality that is put into it. Take my word for it, you wont be disappointed in it and will agree it is money well spent. If you value your tool investment (mine is 1000 dollars plus) the cost of the bag is a non issue for me considering the protection it gives to my tools.
I use my bag on every single job throughout the day and it has never, never failed me once. I am rough on bags initially and if it wont hold up to me its not worth having. I owned several department store bags and nothing compares to the Veto quality and workmanship. Give Veto products a chance, you will be glad you did!

5.0 out of 5 stars qualité de fabrication, espace de rangement , pratique

First off great service Beesley's, thank you.

I had been looking at Veto Pro Pacs for months and watching allot of YouTube video's on them. They are allot of money so it was a decision I wasn't going go make lightly. After i made my mind up about buying one my next decisions was which Veto Pro Pac to get as they have a few different sizes. I looked at the xxl as wasn't sure the xl would be big enough for all my tools but after watching many more video's i thought the xxl would be too big go carry around so i went for the xl. What a fantastic decision! The bag is amazing and even though i thought it may be two small its actually more than big enough with loads more room left after putting all my tools in. Very very well made and so nice to have all my tools on display for easy access. I would highly recommend getting a veto, its just case of which one is best for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Toolbag
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 2, 2014
I would not normally spend this much on a tool bag but I believe this bag is worth every penny. The quality is sublime. Once you have sorted out the layout of your tools you'll find that you will be able to access any tool instantly. I have had several of the ck technicians bags that everyone seems to rave about but they only seem to last me about a year. The zips either break or the stitching comes undone, the side pockets lay on the dirty floor when its open and anything bulky like a hammer has to go into the centre compartment and you end up having to empty the contents to find anything, you also have to close the thing up to move it. All theses problems are in the past with the veto pro pac. You simply roll down the sides and everything is on view and you can carry it it around open. I can now carry many more tools than before and instantly see when something is missing. I haven't lost as much as a roll of insulation tape since getting it six weeks ago, something I couldn't say with the ck. It comes with 5 year warranty so long term not only do I get a bag that a pleasure to use but it should also work out cheaper. To sum up I can't recommend this item highly enough.
