The Wirecutter Deals team scans the virtual aisles of the internet, searching for great discounts on Wirecutter-recommended products so you don’t have to. In our Deals blog posts (like this one), we highlight the discounts that we think Wirecutter readers will love. For more deals information, check out our Deals page, follow us on Twitter @WirecutterDeals, and subscribe to our daily deals newsletter.

People spend about a third of their lives sleeping, so it’s only natural to dedicate a little extra thought and time to your bedroom setup. And although the right gear won’t always guarantee a full night’s sleep (or save you from a Netflix binge-watching session), it can help you cultivate a more relaxing and restful environment. So, this Labor Day, catch a few extra z’s with the help of some of our favorite Wirecutter picks geared for sleep. From mattresses to pillows to white noise machines, get what you need for less so you can get to sleep.

Getting a good night’s rest is paramount, and it all starts with a great mattress. Mattresses are ridiculously difficult to shop for and can be crazy expensive, but hopefully these deals will save you some money in the long run.

A bouncy hybrid mattress

Leesa Hybrid Mattress
Deal price: $1,365 with code WIRECUTTER; street price: $1,660

Side-, stomach-, and back-sleepers rejoice: The Leesa Hybrid can support all. Providing better cooling and a thicker cover than the competition—plus a 100-day trial period and a 10-year warranty—our longtime top pick for the best memory-foam mattress is available for a new low price. Combining the best components of foam and spring mattresses, the Leesa Hybrid’s internal layer of springs offers a gentle bounce while the memory-foam top provides optimal pressure relief. This mattress is also a great option for people who weigh more than 200 pounds. If you’re searching for your Goldilocks mattress, the Leesa Hybrid just might have you nodding off in no time. Note: We have seen even better pricing for this mattress in recent weeks, but strictly at members-only warehouse stores, where it is now largely sold out (unless you need a full or twin size).

A plush innerspring mattress with bounce

The Saatva Classic (Luxury Firm) on a bed frame in a bedroom setting.
Photo: Sarah Kobos

Saatva Classic Mattress
Deal price: $1,174; street price: $1,500

Thanks to its pocketed micro coils and plush 3-inch Euro top, the Saatva Classic features all the bounce of a traditional innerspring mattress without any of the creaking or rigidity. It offers cotton and memory-foam padding for optimal pressure relief no matter what position you sleep in. However, the Classic doesn’t provide the best motion isolation, so rotisserie-style sleepers may still face the ire of their bed partner. The Saatva Classic is sleeker than the similar Wink mattress and has more distinct quilting that gives it a cushy, luxurious quality. Its street price increased in 2020, so although we’ve seen lower prices on it in the past, we still think this is a solid deal. The mattress comes with a 180-day trial period and a 15-year warranty, too (just keep in mind that returns and exchanges entail a $100 fee).

A medium-firm yet billowy crowd-pleaser

The Winkbed hybrid mattress shown in a bedroom.
Photo: Winkbed

WinkBed (Luxury Firm)
Deal price: $1,345 with code WCLABORDAY; street price: $1,800

Here’s another favorite for back-, front-, and side-sleepers who prefer a firmer mattress. The WinkBed (Luxury Firm) is a medium-firm polyfoam mattress that provides a nice cushion but unfortunately doesn’t have as much spring as its previous iteration. It produces a less cradling sensation than the Saatva Classic and has 1,054 pocketed coils internally and around the rim that together create an overall dense and supportive mattress. Although our tester initially found the mattress to be overly stiff, particularly against their shoulders, it broke in after just over a week of use, balancing give and support nicely throughout the body. Make the most out of your forty winks with this deal.

A no-memory-foam mattress to satisfy memory-foam haters

The Tuft & Needle Mattress on a bed frame with two pillows.
Photo: Tuft & Needle

To foam or not to foam? How about a no-memory-foam foam mattress? Because it’s not made of memory foam, the Tuft & Needle Original has a firm underlayer with a soft top, so it won’t make you feel like you’re sinking, instead helping to balance support and cushion. The previous version was our former top pick for back-sleepers, but the newest model is slightly softer and does a good job supporting all sleeping positions, particularly people who rotate throughout the night. It also offers decent edge support and motion isolation. However, if you weigh over 200 pounds, we don’t think you’ll find the top layer quite supportive enough. In addition, Tuft & Needle’s return policy is a pain to navigate, and the company also recently raised the mattress’s street price substantially. Despite those drawbacks, we still think the Tuft & Needle Original is a great mattress, and we have four staffers who still stand by it even after years of use.

Pillow lovers, rejoice! Owning a supportive pillow that cradles your head throughout the night helps to prevent ongoing shoulder and neck pain, so don’t (figuratively) sleep on this opportunity to save. If your pillows aren’t up to the task, check out these great deals on our top picks.

An adjustable pillow for stomach-sleepers

The Sleep Number PlushComfort Pillow Ultimate shown on a bed.
Photo: Sarah Kobos

The right pillow is a crucial component of your sleep setup—but a pillow is not one-size-fits-all. Your preferences and sleeping style significantly influence your pillow selection. For instance, if you’re a stomach-sleeper, we like this Sleep Number pillow. It doesn't have quite as much loft as our top pick, but it contains a great customizable down-alternative fill that’s softer than shredded foam and not as messy to adjust. We see this deal quite often, but it’s still a nice opportunity to snag two pillows for the price of one. Just make sure to select the Ultimate shape before checking out.

A customizable memory-foam body pillow

If you prefer to build a fortress of pillows around yourself at night, there’s nothing quite like the supportive embrace of a good body pillow. Like our top pick, the Coop has the same fill and cooling bamboo-viscose cover, but it’s thicker, heavier, and not quite as malleable. That said, the added weight isn’t all bad. One of our long-term testers grew to appreciate its heft, as it stayed in place on their bed instead of falling off the edge. Plus, the Coop has a zippered casing that allows you to add or remove filling—so you can customize the thickness and firmness to your liking either way.

There’s nothing more relaxing than getting out of a bath and retiring for the night on crisp, new sheets. When it comes to sheets and comforters, you don’t have to worry about a stiff neck or back pain, but it’s nice to indulge in cozy bedding overall. Here are the best deals we’ve found on blankets, sheets, and more.

Our favorite linen sheets

Our pick, the Cultiver linen sheets arranged in a bedroom
Photo: Rozette Rago

Linen: It’s not just for summer suits and Seal’s music videos. It also makes for fine sheets that will have you dreaming of a breezy summer day. Our top-pick sheet set was one of the softest options we tested and didn’t suffer from the same durability complaints we encountered with other linen sheets. Despite being pricey, these were also some of the most affordable linen sheets we tested. This set includes a fitted sheet, a flat sheet, and two pillowcases, and it comes in a wide variety of fun colors and prints. This deal matches the best price we’ve seen for this linen favorite, so check this set out if you’ve been considering upgrading your sheets.

A duvet cover for the linen lover

Photo: Rozette Rago

While you’re at it, why not snag a duvet cover? Praised for its softness and “artfully rumpled look,” our high-quality linen pick is a breathable and luxurious option that is sure to please the linen lover in your life. It’s super soft, smooth, and breathable, and—like Cultiver’s sheets—it hasn’t had the same durability issues as other brands’ offerings. Although this duvet cover is undoubtedly expensive, we think its overall quality is largely unmatched, making it look almost moderately priced compared with the competition. This duvet cover is available in a variety of colors and patterns.

A low-maintenance “quilted” weighted blanket

A person sitting up in bed, reading a book, covered in a weighted blanket.
Photo: Sarah Kobos

Sex and the City’s Carrie Bradshaw once said she just wanted to feel the weight of a man, but all I want to feel is the weight of this 15-pound Baloo blanket. Whether you’re feeling anxious or just need a hug, the comforting embrace of a weighted blanket will get the job done—at least until your cat decides it’s ready to snuggle. Our low-maintenance “quilted” pick is the perfect cross between a bedroom comforter and a quilt. Well-balanced and crisp, the Baloo effortlessly complements a well-dressed bed. It’s soft and smooth, and it has higher-quality stitching than other, cheaper options. Plus, it can safely join the rest of your laundry in the washer and dryer for added convenience.

A soft throw for warmer temperatures

A pile of colorful throw blankets made by Hay.
Photo: Hay

Hay Crinkle Stripe Throw
Deal price: $75 with code CRINKLEWC; street price: $125

Just because you live in a warmer climate doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be able to curl up with a cozy blanket when you want to. As the name implies, the Hay Crinkle Throw is soft and crinkly, creating a cool and airy texture that you can comfortably use throughout the summer. Although it was the lightest blanket we tested, it still felt substantial and cozy. It was also surprisingly sturdy, and it passed our dog and kid test with flying colors. Plus, unlike with many throws, its larger size (a length about 5 feet 2 inches to 6 feet) won’t leave your feet or shoulders poking out uncomfortably. The only real downside is that the gauze-style material isn’t for everyone. But if you like the look, this is the best price we’ve seen for this summer wrap.

A truly great waffle-weave blanket

The Boll & Branch Waffle Blanket, one of our picks for best blanket.
Photo: Michael Hession

Some waffle-weave blankets can feel stiff or thin, but not the Boll & Branch. Springy and luxurious, this textured blanket is a great option for year-round use in moderate climates. It’s made of organic cotton and designed with an open weave that gives it a wonderful texture and keeps it feeling breathable. The blanket’s loft also makes it feel a little lighter on the skin when you’re nestled beneath. Unfortunately, the open, airy weave of waffle blankets can easily fall prey to toenails and pet claws, but overall we think this one is a model blanket that will keep you cozy and look good doing it. The street price of this Boll & Branch blanket has gone up, but this deal is the best and only discount we’ve noted on it this year.

A lightweight, breathable coverlet

Photo: Sarah Kobos

Whereas heavy blankets may leave you sweating through warmer summer months, a breezy coverlet will keep you cozy without overheating you. Lightweight and casual, the Riley coverlet strikes all the right notes, balancing durability, breathability, and style. It comes in four neutral colors and has an almost corduroy-like appearance that gives it a sharp but laid-back look on your bed. We don’t have any long-term testing notes as of yet, but we suspect the Riley will last for years to come. The blanket isn’t as soft as other cotton options we recommend, and we wish the company offered a few more inspiring colors. But other than that, the Riley coverlet is largely a breezy crowd-pleaser—especially for this new low price.

A cooler, smoother percale sheet

Our upgrade cotton sheet pick, the Riley Percale, on a made bed
Photo: Rozette Rago

If you’ve ever wished that you could curl up inside a crisp button-down shirt, thank your genie, because that’s exactly how these Riley sheets feel. Our upgrade pick for the best cotton sheets is the smoothest set of percale sheets we’ve ever tested. They feel great right out of the package and even better after a few washes. They come in a wider variety of sizes and more stylish colors and patterns than our top pick, and they look and feel a bit more expensive, as well. We almost passed on these sheets during our initial testing after they returned from the first wash looking wrinkly and unpleasant—but a few loads later, they were looking (and feeling) better than ever, prompting one senior editor to call them her “dream sheets.” This deal is about $5 shy of the lowest price we’ve seen, but it’s still a great opportunity to snag a premium sheet set on sale.

An unalarming bedside companion

The Loftie Alarm Clock, the best alarm clock with smart features and numerous features.
Photo: Rozette Rago

Loftie Alarm Clock
Deal price: $111 with code WCSLEEP; street price: $140

If you’re hoping to transition from a night owl to a morning songbird, a little structure and a few tools can help light the way. While your own habits and behaviors will do most of the heavy lifting, a good alarm clock can help by lulling you to sleep and gently waking you in the morning—these clocks are a far cry from the screaming alarm clocks of yesteryear. Offering easy-to-use controls in a sleek and simple package, the Loftie is perfect for people who enjoy falling asleep or waking up to ambient music and nature sounds. It’s an expensive clock, even on sale, but between its night-light, snooze button, selection of alarm tones, meditation soundscapes, and background-noise generators, the Loftie does quite a bit to earn its keep. Although we wish the display were a little larger and brighter, this clock is still easy enough to read and sets the time automatically when it’s connected to your Wi-Fi. Don’t forget to use the code WCSLEEP to snag this pick on sale. Note: Expect delayed shipping for the black/black finish.

Soft, cozy headphones for sleep

The AcousticSheep SleepPhones, the best sleep headphones for falling asleep to music.
Photo: Sarah Kobos

Breathe in, two, three four—hold, two, three, four—breathe out, two, three, four. All right, now that you’re relaxed, let’s talk about sleep headphones. We started our search for a great pair in earnest. Unfortunately, we were largely disappointed by the lackluster showing. A few models will get the job done, but each one comes with its own downsides. Our pick for those who like to fall asleep to music (or other audio) comes in a headband-style design of various fabrics and sizes. The SleepPhones set offers the most comfortable speaker design of all the sleep headphones we tested and even has removable electronics, so you can wash or replace your headband as necessary. The headband also has a 12- to 13-hour battery life, but it’s very slow to charge—taking about three hours to go from dead to full—so you’ll likely want to get into the habit of plugging the SleepPhones in when you wake up. The headband isn’t for everyone; if you wear a bonnet to bed, use skincare products, or wear other gear at night, you probably won’t appreciate the design. It also doesn’t transition well to daytime use, which makes the price tag harder to swallow. That said, if your heart is set on a pair of sleep headphones and you don’t mind the drawbacks, this deal is a great chance to try them out for less.

A sleep machine with real fan sounds

The Yogasleep Dohm, our also great pick for the best white noise machine.
Photo: Michael Murtaugh

Yogasleep Dohm Natural
Deal price: $33 with code WIRECUTTER; street price: $45

Nothing is more frustrating than distracting noises that keep you tossing and turning all night. A white noise machine can go a long way in creating a more restful environment, whether you live on a busy street or just have busy roommates. If you find the sound of fans particularly relaxing, we recommend the Yogasleep Dohm. The Dohm produces its sound using real fans, which give the sound a pleasant, natural effect. Although it excels at masking softer, far-away sounds like traffic noise, it’s not as effective at concealing more prominent disturbances like people talking outside your door. Still, the Dohm is a great noise machine, particularly for those who want to keep their bedroom tech-free.

A three-in-one charging dock for your Apple gear

The Mophie 3-in-1 Wireless Charging Stand.
Photo: Sarah Kobos

Sometimes a three-in-one product raises red flags (like if some guy on Hinge has nothing but a three-in-one bottle of shampoo in his shower). Luckily that’s not the case with the Mophie 3-in-1 Wireless Charging Stand. Our top pick for the best Apple wireless charging station is designed with a cross-shaped AirPod docking station and an Apple Watch stand that lets you easily snooze alarms when the watch is in Nightstand Mode. You get a foolproof charging stand that eliminates a mess of tangled cords and keeps all of your Apple devices neatly together in a single place. This deal matches the lowest price we’ve seen for our top pick, so check it out if you’ve been searching for a convenient and sleek way to charge your Apple gear.
