I am a reporter for The New York Times’s DealBook newsletter, based in Washington, and I also contribute to our live coverage of the Israel-Hamas war.
What I Cover
I cover business and policy, which includes the White House, Congress, regulatory agencies and court cases. On a given day, I may report on antitrust enforcement, crypto lobbying, climate change-related regulation, or moves to weaken the power of administrative agencies.
My Background
I’ve worked around the world with people of all origins and walks of life and across the political spectrum. That broad experience informs my reporting.
Prior to joining The Times in 2020, I was a senior reporter at Quartz, covering law and politics in Washington, with a focus on the Supreme Court. I also wrote about language, science, style, tech and philosophy.
Born in Israel and raised in Brookline, Mass., I began my career as an editorial assistant at the Jerusalem Report in Israel, and later I reported on health and living for ABCnews.com in New York. I also taught English in Japan, served as a natural resources volunteer in the Peace Corps in Senegal and worked as a French interpreter for asylum seekers. I am an attorney and served as a public defender in Florida, handling trials and appeals. I also worked as a contract document review attorney for Google, where I learned many secrets of tech executives.
I received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Boston University, a master’s in Islamic Studies from Columbia University and my law degree from City University of New York. I am fluent in Hebrew and French.
Journalistic Ethics
I try to understand issues from multiple angles and to be fair and accurate. I’m not invested in any company I cover and am committed to upholding the standards of integrity outlined in our Ethical Journalism Handbook.
