The Miami Marlins, continuing their search for an everyday shortstop, recently made an offer to free agent Tim Anderson, according to sources briefed on the discussions.
Anderson, 30, declined markedly last season after a brilliant performance in the World Baseball Classic during spring training. In eight seasons with the Chicago White Sox, he was a former batting champion and two-time All-Star. The Marlins would give him a chance to restore his value.
