Here we go...

Popular American Frances Tiafoe, the 29th seed, has won the third set!

He broke Alcaraz to 15 and just served out to take the set 6-4. Alcaraz sits on his bench, a concerned look on his face, mirrored by those in his box.

Alcaraz didn't have a single break point in that third set, and Tiafoe won 84% of his first-serve points, compared to just 60% for Alcaraz.

Can Alcaraz take it to a fifth set?

Let's find out...

Is Frances Tiafoe coming alive again?

Frances Tiafoe is coming for tennis once more.

The tongue-wagging and the fist-pumping and the glare; the toothiest you-know-what-eating grin in the game; the high-energy vibes that can bring any tennis crowd into his corner.

After months of existing on life support, it’s all back, here on the Wimbledon grass, along with the laser forehands down the line and the beguiling spins that twist balls across the court.

Tiafoe is here, really here. Here in a way that he hasn’t been since the summer of 2023: the last time he believed that tennis was there for him to take.

As he takes on Carlos Alcaraz on Centre Court, read The Athletic's piece on the American below.

Second set Alcaraz!

We're at one set each on Centre Court.

Carlos Alcaraz has taken the second 6-2 against Frances Tiafoe.

This is shaping up to be a brilliant match.

Carlos Alcaraz, the third seed, has responded well to going a set down against Frances Tiafoe on Centre Court.

He came from 40-15 down to break Tiafoe on his serve and just held his own service game to make it 5-2 in the second.

One hold away from levelling the match at one set apiece.

Elsewhere, American Brandon Nakashima has just lost the second set against 16th seed Ugo Humbert, 6-3, on Court 12.

Jasmine Paolini is through!

Bianca Andreescu had looked good so far at Wimbledon, knocking out 26th seed Linda Noskova in the second round, but came up against a classy opponent in Jasmine Paolini today.

The Italian, seventh seed after losing in the French Open final against Iga Swiatek, won 7-6(4), 6-1 on Court 1.

She'll play the winner of Madison Keys (12) vs Marta Kostyuk (18) in the fourth round.

Tommy Paul progresses

And Tiafoe's compatriot Tommy Paul is into the fourth round too, after completing a routine straight-sets win against Alexander Bublik.

The 12th seed beat the 23rd seed 6-3, 6-4, 6-2.

He'll play the winner of Roberto Bautista Agut and Fabio Fognini, who are on court at the moment.

But Tiafoe takes the set!

Wow.

In a clash described as a "popcorn match" before Tiafoe had even beaten his previous opponent, Borna Coric, the American has taken the lead.

He broke Alcaraz for 6-5 then served it out to love to take the set.

Eyes on this one...

Alcaraz's smooth improvement on serve

Like contemporary Iga Swiatek, the serve has been one of the stickier parts of Carlos Alcaraz's game — until recently.

Under the cosh against Frances Tiafoe at 4-4, having been a break up at 4-3 before playing a loose game, he's just hit three 132mph serves in a row to hold for 5-4.

In the women's, American Emma Navarro is into a decider against Diana Shnaider, pictured, after taking the second set 6-3.

Mixed news for the USA players.

Jasmine Paolini takes tiebreak against Andreescu

Seventh seed Jasmine Paolini has won the first-set tiebreak 7-6(4) against 24-year-old Canadian Bianca Andreescu.

Wimbledon and the UK general election: Why All England Club expansion matters

The downhill walk from Southfields Underground station to the All England Club takes around 15 minutes. Crowds of ticket holders and hopeful queuers mill past cute rows of terraces that detach into larger properties, before No 1 Court rises into view.

On the fourth day of the 2024 Championships, the crowds filed past the boater-hat sellers, coffee machines, pedicabs blaring dance music — and a new, temporary sign, tied to a pale red fence with string.

“POLLING STATION” it reads, next to a blue plaque for Eleanor Roosevelt, the First Lady of the United States who was educated at the Marie Souvestre school that once stood on the site.

A U.K. general election, American Independence Day, ball on racket on grass. Welcome to a Fourth of July that promised to be like no other in SW19. Read more below.
