Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott said there’s “absolutely nothing wrong with his right ankle despite being recently spotted with a walking boot covering his right foot. Prescott clarified why he wore the boot during a Tuesday media availability during his Pro Camps football camp in the Dallas area.

“I’m great. Honestly, I’m getting older,” Prescott said. “(It’s) the same ankle that I snapped and had surgery on four years ago. So a couple of hard days of training and you get a little sore. And then you go on a fishing trip and you want to protect it and make sure things don’t get worse.

“Literally, it’s absolutely nothing. People are reaching, trying to make things that they aren’t. I’m getting older and having to take care of my body and be smart. If I have to take precautions and lessen something by putting on a boot, I’ll do it.

“Sorry that it caused such a whirlwind.”

Prescott, who turns 31 at the end of July, is coming a 2023 season where he didn’t miss a game and threw for 4,516 yards with 36 touchdowns and nine interceptions, resulting in a career-best 105.9 passer rating. He’s also entering the final year of his contract where his 2024 salary cap figure currently stands at $55.1 million.

“There’s been (contract) conversations back and forth,” Prescott said. “But as y’all know I’m going to let my agent do that, especially as we get right here into training camp. Day 1 of training camp, my mind flips to obviously helping out my team with everything I can in the organization to make sure that I’m my best and everyone around me is their best. The money and all of that will take care of itself.”

Prescott added that he has thrown a “good amount” of passes to top receiver CeeDee Lamb this offseason, as Lamb continues to wait for a contract extension. The star wideout skipped the team’s team’s offseason program, including the mandatory minicamp

Prescott and Cowboys pass catchers are expected to work out together at a remote location before the start of training camp as they’ve done in previous years. The plan is for Lamb to attend.
