Everton mailbag: Send your questions to Patrick Boyland

Everton’s players were back for the start of pre-season training on Monday. Among the group undergoing medical tests and doing fitness exercises were new signings Iliman Ndiaye and Tim Iroegbunam, plus out-of-contract midfielder Dele Alli.

The Athletic has returned from annual leave as things gear up ahead of the new season, too. Clearly, one of those events is markedly more important than the other (and it’s not me returning from a week of sun to a drizzly Liverpool!).

There is plenty to catch up on, though, with Ndiaye’s signing confirmed, the club having made a bid for Hull City winger Jaden Philogene, and Manchester United returning with a second offer for Jarrad Branthwaite.
