Carolina Hurricanes forward Martin Necas is among 14 NHL players who have filed for salary arbitration before Friday’s 5 p.m. Eastern deadline.
The 25-year-old Hurricanes forward has been mired in trade talks as he desires a change of scenery according to The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun. As a result of filing for arbitration, the restricted free agent won’t be eligible for an offer sheet. Necas scored 24 goals and 53 points in 77 games this past season in Carolina, the only team he’s played for in his seven-year career.
