Mohammed Kudus’ West Ham United contract includes a release clause that will not be available to trigger until next summer.

The forward, who has been linked with a move away from the club this summer, has an £85million release clause — applicable to other Premier League clubs — which expired on July 10 and will not be active again until the end of 2024-25 campaign.

Kudus — who joined the east London club last summer — is contracted to West Ham until 2028 with an option of a further year. While renegotiating elements of a contract is possible, that is only likely to happen in the event of an extended deal.

West Ham paid Ajax £35.6million (€41.5m) plus £2.5m (€3m) in add-ons.

The Ghana international scored eight goals with six assists in 32 Premier League appearances for the club last season.

He also scored five goals in West Ham’s journey to the last eight of the Europa League.

His solo goal in the last-16 win over Freiburg was voted the goal of the tournament following a fan poll.

Kudus spent three seasons in Amsterdam, scoring 16 goals in 63 Eredivisie matches. He has scored seven goals in 24 appearances for Ghana.
