Leicester City have completed the signing of midfielder Michael Golding from Chelsea.

Golding’s arrival at the King Power Stadium comes after Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall moved in the opposite direction as part of a separate transaction on Tuesday. Chelsea agreed a fee of £30million ($38m) with Leicester for the midfielder, who signed a six-year contract at Stamford Bridge.

The deal for Golding, 18, will cost Leicester up to £5m but will not include matching rights for Chelsea on any future transfer — unlike Omari Hutchinson’s switch to Ipswich Town.

“I’m really looking forward to making leaps and bounds in my career here at Leicester and working hard to help the team as much as I can,” Golding said after signing a four-year contract at Leicester.

“Obviously the history of the club speaks for itself; there are great players here and I’m looking to soak up as much information as I can from the senior players, to learn from the staff and hopefully have a great season.”

Golding was regarded as one of the brightest prospects at Chelsea and made his first-team debut under former manager Mauricio Pochettino in the FA Cup third-round win over Preston North End last season.

He made four appearances, scoring one goal, as Chelsea’s under-18s reached the last eight of the FA Youth Cup.

Golding has represented England at youth level and captained the side at the 2023 European Under-17 Championship.

Enzo Maresca, now of Chelsea, guided Leicester back to the Premier League at the first attempt, achieving promotion back to the top flight as champions of the Championship.

He has been replaced by Steve Cooper, who arrived as his successor last month.
