The 2024 Copa America has crowned a champion.

Favorites Argentina and Colombia met in the final as the tournament reaches its business end in the United States with Lionel Messi’s running out winners to take the overall record outright with 16 titles.

Colombia had impressed everyone with James Rodriguez rolling back the years and starring but could do nothing as Lautaro Martinez scored the winner in the final in Miami.

Unfortunately for the USMNT they weren’t part of it after they were eliminated in the group stage. Defeat to Panama in their second game left their progression to the next phase in doubt before a loss against Uruguay sealed their fate.

Messi’s Argentina were defending champions, having lifted the title last time out in Brazil in 2021.

Here’s how it all shook out:

  • Group A: Argentina
  • Group A: Canada
  • Group B: Venezuela
