Senior Environment Artist Role [REMOTE]

OBJECTIVES OF THIS ROLE

We are in the process of staffing up our development team with outstanding talent to tackle a brand new sci-fi remake project using Unreal Engine 5. This is an excellent opportunity for someone that is tired of being a cog in a bigger machine, but would rather directly be responsible for establishing the visual style of the final game while working with a lean team.

REPORT STRUCTURE

  • This role reports directly to the Project Lead, Producer, and Art Leads while working closely with other Environment Artists.
  • This role is responsible for liaising with asset artists of all rankings, concept artists, and level designers to fulfill the shared vision of the project.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Aid in establishing the core art style and workflow for the modeling and material treatment for the environment.
  • Create 3D modular environment art and props from concept art using Blender.
  • Apply texturing and materials to assets created using Substance Painter and Designer.
  • Comfortable enough with UE5 Editor to demonstrate a polished presentation of assets in engine.
  • Work closely with the project lead, environment artists, and concept artists to refine the overall vision and aesthetic for the project. 
  • Highly collaborative with other team members and willing to provide timely and constructive criticism to submissions from colleagues.
  • Self-motivated and highly adaptable to new workflows and processes while willing to learn new skills and insert themselves into gaps within the team structure. We are looking for that “Indie dev” mindset.
  • Responds well to feedback and constructive criticism to their submissions and workflows and willingness to iterate on assets.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ego-free, highly motivated, action-oriented, curious learn-it-all with a growth mindset
  • Comfort operating in ambiguous and unregimented environments
  • 3-5+ Years of experience directly related to the role using Unreal Engine or similar engines.
  • Shipped at least 1 AA+ 
  • Strong technical art skills
  • Past experience with Blender or willing to learn Blender 
  • Strong understanding of animation, effects, or other aspects of the art production pipeline.
  • Have experience creating First-Person game art.
  • Eager to take ownership over features and systems and see them through to completion.
  • Likes Sci-Fi and Horror media.
