NBC Sports Next and Premier League Partner to Promote Knowledge and Skills to Young American Soccer Players and Their Families

Kids Encouraged to Showcase Their Skills via Social Media for an Opportunity to be Featured on Premier League Mornings on NBC, USA Network, and Peacock

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (Oct. 12, 2022) – NBC Sports Next and its industry-leading youth sports technology brand, SportsEngine, are partnering with the Premier League on a program designed to increase soccer knowledge and improve skills among young soccer players in the United States.

The “Premier League – Next Generation, presented by SportsEngine” promotion is open to every family that signs up a young athlete for soccer using SportsEngine. After signing up, each family will receive exclusive content from SportsEngine and the Premier League, with the highlight being a welcome video from members of the NBC Sports' Premier League Mornings team, including host Rebecca Lowe and analysts Robbie Mustoe and Tim Howard. Subsequent videos from the broadcast team concentrate on tips and demonstrations covering skills, such as passing, defending, shooting and dribbling, as well as advice related to other topics like nutrition and safety.

“We’re excited to launch this initiative with SportsEngine as an opportunity to provide young football players in the United States with useful information and tips to help develop their skills,” said Paul Molnar, Chief Media Officer at the Premier League. “SportsEngine has a great platform and position as a technology leader in youth sports in the U.S., which provides a brilliant and engaging way for us to reach our younger fan base.”

“The popularity of the Premier League in American homes continues to grow every day,” said Brett MacKinnon, Senior Vice President & General Manger, Youth & Recreational Sports, NBC Sports Next. “Combining our resources through this initiative creates provides a supportive runway for the next wave of athletes, and an engaging way for young soccer players their families to learn more about the sport and how it’s played.”

Kids also are invited to show off their newly gained skills on social media, using the hashtag #MYPLMORNING and tagging @NBCSPORTSSOCCER and @SPORTSENGINE, for a chance to have their video featured on Premier League Mornings on NBC, USA Network and Peacock.

SportEngine also is conducting a consumer sweepstakes encouraging parents to post a team photo or video of their child playing soccer on Instagram – using the hashtag #MyPLMorning and #MyPLMorningSweeptakes, and tagging and following @SPORTSENGINE, and @NBCSPORTSSOCCER – to be entered for chance at a VIP experience at the Premier League Mornings Live event in Philadelphia, Pa., Oct. 15-16, 2022.

Supplementing the on-air promotion, SportsEngine has produced a soccer “New to Sport Guide” for parents, which provides advice and information about soccer fundamentals, team set-up, rules, positional strategies, terms and definitions, apparel and equipment, ways to play, where to play, and soccer’s governing bodies. The guide and additional learning content will be promoted on air, on SportsEngine’s website and through social media posts.
