Overview edit · view history

Infinity Ward Poland is a division of the US company Infinity Ward. It is based in Kraków, Poland and was incorporated on 13 July 2018, but already announced in December 2017. It is led by Michał Drobot and the studio was initially established to develop new tools and technology powering the Call of Duty franchise.

Drobot joined the US division in 2015 with a track record working on the engine of games in the Far Cry, Killzone and Two Worlds series. At Infinity Ward he was the architect of the graphics engine for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare (2016) and Call of Duty: WWII (2017), but also responsible for planning the architecture for the future years. He suggested returning to Poland recruiting people there and this led to the establishment of Infinity Ward Poland.

The team is responsible for rebuilding the Call of Duty game engine. Dubbed IW 8.0 it powers Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) and Call of Duty: Warzone (2020), as well as Call of Duty: Vanguard (2021) with additional work by Sledgehammer Games. It replaced IW 3.0 and its evolution up to IW 7.0. It also served as the foundation for the next version of the engine IW 9.0 powering Call of Duty: MWII - Modern Warfare II (2022) and Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 (2022), but with the improvements done by other studios.

In June 2022, job listings revealed the studio is working on an unannounced open world game.
