In my personal ranking The Binding of Isaac joined Limbo and Frozen Synapse, thus completing the podium for the this year's best indie games. [December 2011, p.82]
The Binding Of Isaac, One of the best indie games I've ever played in my life. I just found out that this game has a Metacritic so, here's a crappy review.
This game is addictive as hell. For a simple concept and a simple idea the amount of fun you can have with this game is extraordinary.
It has lovable characters and a soundtrack (by Danny Baranowsky) which quickly became one of my favourites,
There is a lot of replay value in this game and theres a lot of collectibles to discover which will help you get through the game. And as for the story, as simple as it is, it has a charm to it which makes it rather unforgettable.
Addictive and very surprising, even when you have been playing several hours, The Binding of Isaac is yet another quality game from independent developers.
I'll put it simply: If you can roll with the macabre toilet humor and if religion jokes don't put you off, AND if you enjoy games with non-optional permadeath, randomized content, tons of secrets and considerable replay value… it's hard to go wrong with The Binding of Isaac. Especially at five dollars.
Cumbersome controls hamper what would otherwise be a resoundingly memorable adventure. At just five dollars The Binding of Isaac is a great indie title that offers up a ton of replay value and gruesome fun.
It's a good game, with a surprising amount of content for the price, but it will definitely turn away those who don't like even cartoon gore, and leave a slightly bitter taste in even the most hardened gamer's mouth... and mind.
So this game is the binding of Isaac. this game is a dungeon explorer RPG about a young boy named Isaac who would do things like any boy would playing with his toys while hi mother watched Christian broadcasts on the television. Until one day his mother heard the voice of god from above and told her that Isaac had grown impure so he must be sacrificed, peering through a hole in his wall he urges around his room racing to find a way to escape his doom. he finds a small trapdoor that leads to the basement. he dives in but neither you or him know about the dangers that emit from the depths bellow. After being thrown into the darkness you soon discover that this game has a simplistic art. your first steps are both terrifying and exciting as you battle deformed remains of both you fallen brothers and sisters. you walk through dungeons battle these deformed monstrosities and you discover different power ups as you explore these levels delving deeper into the pits of despair. The way you control the character is pretty simple by using wasd to walk and the arrows keys to control your tears. But adding these controls with the everlasting process of dodging enemy projectiles can lead to some sticky situations if you are not ready.
- so overall I think this is an amazing game with great art and greater gameplay I rate this 10/10
The Binding of Isaac is a roguelike video game designed by independent developers Edmund McMillen and Florian Himsl. The game's title and plot are inspired by the Biblical story of the Binding of Isaac. In the game, Isaac's mother receives a message from God demanding the life of her son as proof of her faith, and Isaac, fearing for his life, flees into the monster-filled basement of their home where he must fight to survive. Players control Isaac or one of seven other unlockable characters through a procedurally generated dungeon in a roguelike manner, fashioned after those of The Legend of Zelda, defeating monsters in real-time combat while collecting items and power-ups to defeat bosses and eventually Isaac's mother.
My friend recommended this game to me and It's just not my kind of thing. Did not enjoy the gameplay... guess I don't like roguelikes. I will be avoiding such games, so I won't waste my time on this kind of garbage. Pickens condemns.
The Binding of Isaac has a neat idea, but in the end it's not worthwhile and boring. Some people will like it, but I feel quite a few people will be bored to death with the simple combat, dumb story, dumb, pandering humour, and item drops which often feel unfair or stupid. Did I mention, the item drops often just result in the game taking a long time to beat, as opposed to making the game harder? Yeah, it just gets boring for me. But, some people might get a kick out of it if they really really like rogue likes.
SummaryIsaac is a roguelike shooter based on the dungeon structure of Zelda (nes). At its core it controls like Smash TV / Robotron in a randomly generated semi RPG world filled with powerups items and special abilities.
