I can't help but tip my hat to the entire Santa Monica team. The deeper you delve into the game, the more you'll be drawn into the stunning story of a father and son against the backdrop of perhaps history's most horrific war. Throw in some casually endearing humour, great and fluid gameplay, and wrap it all up with an amazing audiovisual experience. [Issue#323]
God of War Ragnarok is a testament to the franchise that exceeded our expectations and can easily compete for the title of best game of the year. A true love letter to God of War fans and a masterpiece that will be remembered.
simplemente, juegazo con una historia que es cine puro y que le da un final increible a la magnifica saga, es dificil destacar algo malo del juego porq es hermoso todo lo que engloba.
If there is a game that “improves upon perfection,” then this it is. God of War Raganrok is my favorite game of all time for a reason. It took what made God of War 2018 so good and somehow improved upon its predecessor in basically every fathomable aspect. The story was way more emotional and heavily weighted, the combat is a no brainer, the exploration is so much bigger with more areas to explore, the side quests are actually lore/story consistent unlike most of them from the 2018 title, and don’t even get me started on the Valhalla dlc. Sure the game isn’t perfect and it has some minor pacing issues from time to time but putting those aside, it’s honestly non existent comparing the good to the bad. The story is more complex and handles deeper topics like tragedy, sacrifice, and suffering. Those ideas were handled absolutely flawlessly and it actually made me shed a tear in some points. The writing is absolutely impeccable. From start to finish, this is the pinnacle and peak of the entirety of the God of War franchise. The literal best game that Santa Monica has to offer. I cannot recommend this game enough as to how impactful and life changing it is. Easily and 11/10 when you include Valhalla. This is how games are supposed to me made. Near flawlessly
God of War Ragnarok is a beautiful, moving game, no longer purely centered on a father getting to know his son, but also about vengeance, forgiveness and attempting to change both prophecy, and the people we used to be, both of which prove to be equally difficult. It’s almost impossible for me to imagine those who loved the last God of War will not also appreciate this one just as much, minus a lagging stretch here or there, and the fact that it can’t be as transformative as the initial leap from the Greek games.
The combat is beefy enough to carry you through the slower stretches, but even when you're lopping heads off dragons it can feel like what you're really killing is time. [Issue#379, p.100]
After playing through the whole game I believe that this is one of the best Games I Have ever played, it has a beautiful storyline with gripping emotion, an amazing combat system and many hoursofthings to do.
A great story with top-notch visuals and an insufferable combat system. In the last quarter I switched to Easy to stop being one-shotted every now and then by a random mob. I mostly hated the combat in this one. Atreus is OP and Kratos is weak as !@#$%^. Totally unbalanced.
It's good but a step back from God of War (2018). Fun gameplay, amazing visuals and a great story make it worth playing. Repetitive puzzles and unnecessarily slow sections are its biggest faults.
I'm amazed this game is such a step back from the previous game and everyone is giving it a pass. Yes, the traversal is all massively improved and combat has more depth and combos, but that's just enough to get through the game. The game is just as visually stunning as the previous one with some noticeable touch ups to textures, but some of the level design is just awful, especially Ironwood which is essentially a junkyard in a swamp with some grey and reddish purple but mostly piss yellow and diarrhea brown (all the while Atreus is saying "this is BEAUTIFUL!" But I guess some people like looking at a used public toilet that backed up a long time ago?) The voice acting is quite good and the characters feel like realistic versions of gods and demi gods at times, at other times it's not very good and even bad.
But the writing and themes, my god. Imagine any political hot topic from global warming to European colonialism exploiting other races to the evils of WHALING. And that's just within the first few hours and it's not very subtle or smart, but instead incredibly preachy and incessant. Constantly hitting you over the head with these messages, and it only gets worse the longer you play the game. It's unbelievable. It's a shame too because some of these themes work with the story being told here, it's just HOW it's told to you that makes it annoying or, worse yet, boring. On my new game+ I just put the game on mute and turned off subtitles, game became that much better. There really is nothing wrong with the story itself, it's a solid follow up to what happened in the previous game with both Kratos's journey as a father now with more focus on Atreyu growing into his own legend, and ultimately how that all ties in with the overall arc of the gods of Aesgard trying to prevent Rägnarök. But these writers cobbled this **** together without any real cohesive vision and the final result is a preachy, long winded slog. Really disappointing.
SummaryThe freezing winds of Fimbulwinter have come to Midgard, making survival for Kratos, Atreus, and Mimir in the Norse wilds even more challenging than before. Kratos, still bearing the knowledge of his past mistakes, wants to spare Atreus the bloody lessons he learned from his conflict with gods. He wants to keep his son safe, above all, ...
