Dawntrail may not be as much of a reinvention of the wheel as it was made out to be. However, it also proves that this formula is still capable of featuring incredible stories and taking us to places that can surprise and challenge our understanding of the world, both in and out of the game. It represents a huge step forward in the worldbuilding of Final Fantasy XIV and its gameplay, giving the player appropriate challenges for the hundreds of hours they likely poured into it to get to this point. If this is any indication of what’s to come, then FFXIV’s next decade is looking as bright as dawn.

Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail is a great expansion that has a lot to offer. The graphics update is really good and the Final Fantasy music is still a masterpiece. The main story questline is okay, but unfortunately not as outstanding as players had hoped. Nevertheless, the new world of Dawntrail is worth a look for every MMO fan, as there are new dungeons, new jobs, new decorative items and much more.
Dawntrail is largely about working through flaws of all kinds, which it certainly has. But it has its highs, too, that I’d argue are worth fighting for—much like the lands of Tural, full of joy, full of better things. I enjoyed this new FFXIV journey thoroughly, but I know where it needs to build from, and any good adventurer knows to pick up that experience and forge ahead.
Dawntrail left me floored with a unique sense of self-reflection and stunned by spectacular combat encounters, and to go through that journey with characters I’ve grown to love, both new and old, proves that this experience can only exist in the form that it does. This expansion is a worthy extension of FFXIV, and it leaves a world of fascinating possibilities for the future. Dawntrail doesn’t forget that this is a Final Fantasy story, and the way it ties in its past, present, and future makes for incredible moments that continue to uplift and define the series.
If you wanted more of the same ol' same ol' online Final Fantasy, this is what you'll get. But I wanted something more. If Dawntrail is to be a new chapter, a potential start of a new saga, it needed a better opening, not this boring thing. Time will tell what will become of this.
Dawntrail shoves your character so far into the background of its story you may as well not be there. That said, the vibrancy and personality of Tural is a real breath of fresh air, and the dungeon bosses have never been more satisfying to take down.
So many review bombs. Someone clearly is mad about SE and needs to get a life instead of sitting at home creating multiple accounts to drop negatives here. This expansion isn't fantastic as SB or EW but I still enjoyed it and appreciate the devs. Giving this a 10 to counter the negatives.

• The new Jobs Viper and Pictomancer are interesting and fun additions. Adjustments for previously existing jobs improve some, but others are left worse off or with nothing at all.
• The new zones were extremely detailed and well made, making the zones feel more open world than ever. The graphics update improved the visuals of the game greatly.
• The music of the expansion was spectacular, however it felt as if there was less diversity in melody and motifs compared to the previous expansions. The vocal tracks may feel out of place to most.
• Though I personally did not have severe issues with the MSQ and Wuk Lamat, I find it difficult to defend her against the criticisms brought forth by the rest of the playerbase. In a genre where the player character should be the focus, this experiment where the MSQ revolves almost exclusively around an NPC was not a success. It was not compatible with a mass portion of the playerbase.
• The story wasn't terrible and was a relief to me on just the merit that it did not ruin or retcon previously established lore, but knew when to tastefully reference what came before it. A strong foundation has been set for the future of the MSQ.
• English localization and voice acting is wooden and uninspiring. The voice for Wuk Lamat seems to have driven many people to outright swap audio language.
• The dungeons and battle content are the strongest parts of this expansion. Giving the players a well needed difficulty boost and diversity in dungeons content.

Solid 7 right now still have 5 patches of stuff. New zones and dungeons have been amazing. Graphics update is extremely pleasing to look at. But like many others the msq fell short, I hated the first half but loved the second half. Having more fun though now that the msq is done and I don't need to see wuk anymore.
A lot of these negative review post a positive but leave a 0 and the 10s are in denial. Solid 7.
