We are looking for a Policy Communications Manager to join its Communications Team in APAC. In this role, you will support a wide range of initiatives and programs related to overall safety and integrity of our platforms. This role will provide communications support for the policy issues outlined in our Community Standards with a specific focus on safety and content. You will need to understand the media environment, our policies, the social and political debate around our platforms, and the regional cultural context of multiple countries. Political awareness and a strong interest in news and current affairs are essential. As part of the APAC Policy Communications team, you will work closely with country teams to communicate our position on some of the most complex tech-policy issues of our time — from security to content and integrity work on our platforms. The role requires managing proactive and reactive communications, including message development, regional and international media relations and working on highly sensitive issues. We want someone who is passionate about Meta, is an outstanding writer, and has proven track records in both quickly and diplomatically handling sensitive queries from top-tier outlets, as well as executing high-impact regional campaigns in response to complex, corporate issues and public affairs matters. This position is a full-time position. The successful candidate will report to the VP, Communications (APAC).
APAC Policy Communications Manager (Content, Integrity and Security) Responsibilities
  • Drive communications activities on content policy issues outlined in Facebook Community Standards with a focus on overall integrity and our content transparency processes
  • Work with our global Comms, Policy, Legal, Product, Partnership, and Operations teams to build, understand and communicate on policies and that support and protect our community and reputation
  • Manage in-bound press inquiries on a range of issues related to Facebook’s content policies Develop and create a wide range of communications materials including blog posts, communications plans, statements, briefing materials for executives, launches and more
  • Create programs (leveraging traditional and social/owned channels) that help educate the press, policy makers and groups on how our platforms work
  • Develop proactive campaigns to educate new and existing users on issues related to content and integrity
Minimum Qualifications
  • At least 10 years of relevant work experience in online safety, journalism, a technology company or managing relevant clients in a PR agency
  • Experience in policy communications, public policy, public affairs, or issues management
  • Experience working under deadlines and with reporters
  • Experience distilling complex policy concepts into plain language for non-expert audiences
  • Experience creating messaging materials, and working collaboratively with cross-functional groups including Engineering, Investigations, Legal, Public Policy, Marketing, and Data Science
  • Experience managing crisis communications situations singlehandedly
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Politics, Social Sciences, Journalism or a related field
