What we’re about
Whether you’re a first-time blogger or seasoned developer, there’s always more to learn. The vast resources available at Learn.WordPress.org from community members all over the world will help you learn more about WordPress and teach it to others.
One of the best ways to learn is through collaborative discussions with others. The meetups here bring together people around the content hosted on Learn.WordPress.org for live discussions and learning. We share knowledge, exchange ideas, and learn from each other. When you sign up for a meetup, please take the time to watch the suggested workshop(s) in advance where necessary.
You must agree to the code of conduct in order to participate in these online workshops. Some online workshops are recorded – you will be notified of this as you join the session and, if you do not wish to appear in the recording, you can choose to opt-out entirely or simply hide your video so you are not visible. Recordings will be published on WordPress.tv after the event has taken place.

- Developer Hours: Building WordPress themes with the Create Block Theme pluginLink visible for attendees
In this Developer Hours session, we’re going to explore how to use the Create Block Theme plugin to make block theme development easier. Tammie Lister, core committer, theme maintainer and contributor to Gutenberg, will join us to explain how it works and talk about the new features. Whether you’ve used the plugin before or created your own block theme, you won’t want to miss this chance to see how it can improve your workflow.
The following topics will be covered:
- How to create a theme from scratch
- How to clone an existing block theme or create a child theme
- How to customize your theme in the Site Editor
- How media used in templates is managed for you
- How the plugin helps make themes translation-ready
- And more!
At the end of the session, we’ll have an open discussion about block theme development and what features are on the roadmap for the Create Block Theme plugin.
