How It Works
From start to finish, Lowe’s and Qmerit are with you every step of the way.
Submit the Online Assessment
Fill out the form, and Qmerit will provide you with a preliminary estimate. You’ll need to pay a fully refundable deposit of $149 to continue.
Complete an On-Site Consultation (if Necessary)
For complex jobs, a Qmerit certified installer will assess the scope of work and check the electrical panel in person. For most jobs, this step isn’t necessary.
Accept Your Quote
Once the project has been defined, you’ll receive an installation quote.
After you accept the quote, a Qmerit certified installer will set up the installation appointment. You’ll also receive a reminder email from Qmerit.
Get It Installed
The end-to-end process depends on your local municipality’s permitting and receipt of your charger. You can expect complete installation within three to six weeks after submitting the initial online assessment and paying the fully refundable deposit.
Once installation is complete, your Qmerit certified installer will clean up, review instructions with you and ensure you’re 100% satisfied.
What Does Installation Include?
Installation includes:
- Installation of a Level 2 hard-wired charging station that you provide or a NEMA 14-50 outlet to be used with a Level 2 charging cord (which may be included with your vehicle) plus labor and materials
- Main panel load calculation to assess available capacity*
- Permitting and inspection fees where required — additional fees apply and will be added to final quote**
- Creation and submission of permit documents as required by local jurisdiction
- Provision and installation of code-compliant electrical wiring and protective tubing
- Provision and installation of a new, properly sized breaker in the electrical panel
- Powering up your charging unit and testing it for proper operation
- A warranty: The Lowe’s EV Charging Station Warranty complements your product’s manufacturer parts and installer warranties with labor benefits starting after year one and continuing for the full length of the manufacturer term.
*Qmerit can upgrade your panel to provide sufficient capacity for EV charging and future-proof your home to accommodate additional electrification technologies in the future.
**Customer remains responsible for (a) paying all applicable fees related to required permits and (b) confirming the installer has applied for and been issued all necessary permits. The permitting cost will be reflected in the quote upfront.
Installation doesn’t include:
- Level 2 charging station — you’ll need to purchase this prior to your scheduled installation
- Drywall, stucco, plaster, concrete or any other repairs to walls, ceilings or floors if penetration is required for wiring runs
- Any trenching required if your garage is detached
