Old Dominion Freight Line previously forecast a rebound in Q2 of last year that never materialized. The down cycle has lasted longer than expected, CFO Adam Satterfield said to investors in a Wednesday earnings call. The LTL giant's tonnage per day rose 1.9% in Q2 despite ongoing softness. “It’s still tough to tell,” Satterfield said. “I feel like things are starting to thaw a little bit. ... It seems like we’re coming close to the end of a long, slow cycle.”

Atlas Energy Solutions and Kodiak are working to commercialize self-driving trucks to deliver frac sand across West Texas in the Permian Basin, the companies announced Tuesday.
