Just how important is a good night’s sleep? 😴 A new study published in Nature Magazine, in collaboration with Google, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and The National Institutes of Health's All of Us Research Program, looked at the relationship between variations in sleep duration and quality and overall health. Based on data from more than 6,700 Fitbit (now part of Google) users, it’s the largest study of its kind to date, and the findings draw a clear connection between consistent, quality sleep and a reduced risk of chronic diseases like obesity, high blood pressure, migraines, and more. Over the last five years, Google.org has provided more than $10 million to help nonprofits accelerate work related to mental health. One of those organizations, ReflexAI, used funding and support from Google.org Fellows to launch HomeTeam, a free, interactive, online educational program that gives veterans the practical skills to have impactful conversations about mental health. We’re proud to support this impactful program – since debuting last November, hundreds of service members have used the tool and 100% of survey respondents said they felt better prepared to tackle conversations with their peers who might be struggling with mental health.
