Cambria Live Series - Software Release 4.0
Shortly after NAB Show this year, we share the new software release of the Cambria Live Series with our customers. The software is in the 4th version now and supports a lot of new features. The Live Series is build out from 3 different products: Cambria Live, Cambria Broadcast Manager and Cambria Live Edit.
Cambria Live is Capella’s software-based live encoding suite for professionals. One key challenge for live producers is monetization, which version 4.0 addresses with support for the Yospace and Brightcove server-side ad insertion platforms. Brightcove’s Hiro Kawanobe, Head of Japan Media Sales & General Manager, sees this as a major benefit to his customer. “Cambria Live’s ad configuration support for Brightcove Live SSAI will allow our customers to optimize monetization opportunities while controlling which ads are served in which order. Our broadcasting customers will appreciate this added control over the ad insertion process.”
Also new in Cambria Live is HLS output support, which enables producers to create streams directly deliverable to viewers without a cloud-transcoding facility, saving the transcoding cost and reducing viewer latency.

Cambria Live is a software-based system that encodes live broadcasts in real time and uploads them to popular streaming servers such as Adobe Flash Media Server, Wowza Media Server, YouTube Live, Facebook Live and Ustream. Cambria Live takes uncompressed broadcast video directly from a camera via SDI or HDMI and compresses it into the H.264 format with AAC audio, ensuring optimal video and audio quality.

The Cambria Live Broadcast Manager is specifically designed for streaming broadcasters handling a high-volume, automated live streaming workflow with commercial ad insertion. This highly scalable solution manages multiple Cambria Live workstations over a network monitoring scheduled events, job failover, SDI rerouting, and regular machine maintenance with redundancy support. Cambria Live Broadcast Manager offers a cost-effective alternative to hardware encoders within a fully automated live streaming workflow.
