The best career move I've made so far....

Was three years ago, when I joined ForeSee to head up their product marketing function.

One of my favorite people, Shannon Latta, recruited me. Eric Feinberg, ForeSee's VP of Marketing, took a chance on me. And along the way, I've worked with some of the best (god damm) marketers, sales leaders, sales pros, sales engineers, product leaders, product managers, customer success managers, analysts, and enablement leaders I've ever had — and probably WILL ever have — the honor of working with.

That's a bit of a build up but also explains why it was such a great move.

Product marketing has been a great home for me.

When I joined ForeSee, I immediately felt like the belle of the ball. Everyone wanted something from product marketing! It was overwhelming, but exhilarating.

I had the great opportunity to build out the function from the ground up, help the company message a very complicated product, grow into a leadership role, collaborate with so many talented people, develop so many work crushes (hi Cecilia, Terry, Caroline), and discover an incredible career path.

Being in a position to bring together people and ideas from across product, sales, enablement, marketing, customer success, research — that's what's been so rewarding about being a product marketer.

It's also a highly sought after role, now and in the foreseeable future.

When people ask me if product marketing could be a good career move for them, my answer is an enthusiastic YES.

(And, I'm happy to answer any questions and support others in pursuing such a great career path. Here are a couple resources that have helped me on my product marketing career growth: Sharebird and Product Marketing Community.)

Today is my last day at ForeSee, and a short LinkedIn post was not going to suffice.

To all my incredible former colleagues at ForeSee:

(There's just too many people to name that I'm afraid I'd leave out important people!)

THANK YOU. I hope you know how much I've enjoyed working with you and how much I've learned from you.

I'll be applying all those great lessons I've learned from you and at ForeSee in my next career chapter. Wish me luck.
