Amazing post about redefining #observability by Hazel Weakly! It seems that a lot of us are thinking about #o11y and the need for it to move from super geeky, software engineering-centric, smartest person in the room, to #o11yForEveryone. Read Hazel's blog post and let me know what you think. https://lnkd.in/ehZ9NZ2r

Why schema driven development and single source of truth is key for 10X engineering, when building event and API driven systems with various types of eventsources (http, graphql, grpc, message bus etc). And how Godspeed’s Meta Framework supports these parctices as a first class citizen of its 4th generation approach to developing microservices (or elegant monoliths :) What difference does it make to develop without these in conventional approach versus with these best practices. Details in the blog shared in comment below. :) Godspeed Systems #10xengineering #api #coding #efficiency #tech #microservices #monoliths #eventdrivensystems #distributedsystems #modernization

Worth tuning in for this even if you haven't used GraphQL. If you're into the data space, it's also worth calling out that Nick Schrock's Dagster tool is the benchmark for data pipeline orchestration.
In-person meetups are back in SF 🚀 The Rippling Engineering team is excited to host Daniel Schafer, Nick Schrock and Lee Byron to share the origin story of GraphQL on Thursday, August 24th. The one and only Sahin Olut will also be presenting on a new platform we're cooking up at Rippling called Universal Objects. Hope to see you all there! (And keep an eye out for the NYC version of this event coming in September!)

First off Alex, testing is not a fandom. It’s a discipline and a total part of an SDLC. Whether you are bootstrapping or at the legacy end of a product, you need the kind of people who are skilled in identifying software and product risk, understanding it, articulating it and adding that value to the product. Testing is ALL about risk. For example, if you’re bootstrapping an app that handles customer data of ANY kind you immediately have an obligation to protect and secure that data. Not from the point of release, but from day zero of planning and development. Retro fitting quality into a product NEVER works. It requires investment up front, otherwise you are building on a pile of excrement, instead of a stable foundation of work.

So, during TechCrunch Disrupt, I told several founders building their products to wait on testing. This may sound a bit controversial to you, testing fans out there. Still, testing should not be the priority when you are bootstrapping a project and trying to generate some noise so you can get some funding and proof that your concept can generate revenue. Ok, I've said it... now, who wants to crucify me? 😅 Or better yet, I'd love to hear people's perspectives and learn from you. How do you feel about testing in the early stages of a bootstrap project?
