Happy Mental Health Monday! Week 2 - Get Moving! If you're anything like me, you're super busy and constantly glued to your desk. It's easy to spend multiple hours straight looking at your monitor without getting a break (unless it's for coffee or the bathroom). But do you know you can actually feel more productive and fulfilled by taking multiple breaks throughout the work day? According to the Harvard Business Review (source below), taking frequent micro-breaks throughout the day can help recharge your batteries and help mitigate any mental burn-out that you might be experiencing. These breaks can vary from person to person, depending on what helps them relax and recharge. They don't have to be very long to be beneficial. It depends on what you do within that short bit of time that will help max out your battery. Myself, I work in downtown Cleveland. So I like to take brief walks (weather permitting) or taking a few minutes to write down my thoughts in a mood journal that I keep. This helps me check in with myself regularly to see how i'm doing throughout the day. I also like to reflect on these entries at the end of the day and work through any struggles I noted with more intentional thought. Given that we all have different work environments, think about what you can do to help yourself recharge. If you already, take breaks throughout the day, what do you do? Share with everyone in the comments below! That's all for this week! If you missed the kick-off to the Mental Health Monday series, view my post here (https://lnkd.in/gjj77zW9) Have a great day everyone! Source - Harvard Business Review : https://lnkd.in/gBEsHsgd

Good Mental Health Monday Everyone! Since we’re getting into the colder months of the year ❄, I thought I'd start a new series where I post every other Monday and talk about the things I do to take care of my mental health in an effort to help those looking for ways to fight the winter blues. Without further ado, let’s dive in: This week, let’s talk about Music 🎶! It is one of the cornerstones of my mental health foundation. I always listen to music while I’m working, cleaning, exercising (when I actually do exercise haha), etc. I mostly listen to Instrumental music as I find it the most calming and relaxing for me. Music has been a big part of my life and has gotten me through a lot of tough times. No matter what I was feeling, music has always been a way that has best expressed those feelings. It’s helped me cope, reflect, and makes it easier for me to process those feelings. My favorite instrumental pieces involve piano or violin (or any stringed instrument). I’ve included a link to a Spotify playlist of different pieces of music that I’ve liked the most from my favorite Movies and TV Shows below. These songs invoke a lot of nostalgia for me personally. Bringing me back to those pivotal theatric moments and how I felt when watching each unique story unfold on the big and small screen. I hope they invoke the same feeling in you or maybe even help you get through whatever challenge you might be facing today. Thank you for reading and remember, you are doing a great job!!! See ya in a couple of Mondays 👋 Spotify Playlist: https://lnkd.in/ggaW3CBm

We can choose our actions (to an extent), we can choose our attitude (to an extent), but we cannot simply choose not to be impacted by trauma any more. It takes time. Find out more in this episode at https://lnkd.in/eBxDEqTv or on Spotify etc. #TherapistsConnect

🌟 Thursday Insights: Mind Matters - Episode 8 🌟 Ever experienced a movie that shifts your perspective dramatically? Films have that power. 🎬 Being a movie enthusiast, I get thrilled like a child when planning a cinema visit. Typically, I aim for at least two theatrical releases a month to balance the cost. On weekends, I usually have 3 to 5 downloaded movies ready to watch. Fridays are eagerly awaited for the new releases on Netflix and Amazon Prime. Why does this matter? Movies often reshape our thoughts, offering insights or pure entertainment that soothes the mind and brings joy. So, for a healthy mind, aim to treat yourself to a movie experience at least once a month. It doesn’t always have to be a grand outing—sometimes a simple movie night does wonders! 🎭 If you're a movie freak like me, indulge in what you love; otherwise, spend time on what brings you joy! ❤️ #ThursdayInsights #MindMatters #MovieMagic #SelfCare #HealthyMind #MovieEnthusiast #JoyfulMoments

Strategy Director at Parallel Creative | Transforming Vision into Impact | Empowering Brands to Embrace Uniqueness & Innovation | Dare To Be Different
Let's get QUIZICAL! Over the last couple of weeks, lunch times at Parallel have been dominated by one thing... Richard Osman's House of Games. Random, I know. But hear me out: It started out with Reuben watching it on his computer, but then slowly but surely he enticed the rest of the team, one by one, and now we all gather to watch it on the big screen in our meeting room. Lol. This is an everyday occurrence here at Parallel HQ and we love it. The premise is that each week a group of Z list British 'celebrities' battle over silly weird little games every day until Friday, when one of them is crowned the champion. The games are either p*ss easy or really f***ing difficult and there is nothing we love to do during lunch more than shout the answers at the TV (btw we do have a TV license 🫣). The episodes are short so it fits perfectly in our lunch schedule. It gets everyone away from their desk and gives us all something to connect over and chat about. It's good for a bit of office camaraderie, plus we're all SH*T so it's funny. It's great for the office culture, the only issue is pulling ourselves away from it and turning it off, damn you iPlayer auto-play, always teasing us with the next episode. No, but on a real one, it's great to connect with your team over things outside of work or by using lunches and breaks to unwind together. It's something all work places should invest in more. Anyway that's that on that for today. We f***ing love the quiz. If you've ever watched it, our prize picks are always the dressing gown and the fondue set....the dart board would be way too dangerous for this cack-handed bunch of tw*ts. Anyway, give us recommendations on what to watch next, or if you're hard enough, challenge us to a pub quiz, we will f***ing destroy you.

There is a stigma around alone time. It is often mistaken for being lonely. They are two very different things. Alone time is a sure way to increase your self-awareness (providing you use it productively and not binge-watching Netflix #sorrynotsorry ) If you want to understand why things or people trigger you, if you want to understand why you’re drawn to something or someone, if you want to understand why you attract certain people or situations… I could go on. Begin by carving out a night a week solely dedicated to getting to know yourself. Journal until you can’t journal anymore. It will transform every aspect of your life! #aloneisbetter #aloneisnotlonely #gettoknowyourself #selfawareness #selfdiscovery #journalyourwaytoyourbestlife

For those who often find themselves on the road during the nocturnal hours, the challenge of combating drowsiness is all too familiar. Extended hours behind the wheel, especially during the night, can sometimes be monotonous, increasing the risk of fatigue. But here's an innovative and delightful suggestion: why not turn to comedians for company? Listening to comedy while driving has myriad benefits. Firstly, laughter, being a physiological response, acts as a stimulant, shaking off the initial traces of drowsiness. Laughter also releases endorphins, which are the body's natural feel-good chemicals. This not only elevates mood but also enhances alertness, making the drive both pleasant and safe. In essence, turning your vehicle into a mobile comedy club can transform your late-night drives. No longer will the journey be just about reaching the destination, but it will also be an experience of joy, laughter, and alertness. #NightDriveComedy#LaughAwake#ComedyCaravan#AlertWithHumor#MidnightMirthDrive#ComicReliefRoads#ComedianCompanions#HumorHighway#MilesOfSmiles#WakefulWithWit#JokesJourneys#ComedyCruising#NighttimeNarratives#DriveWithDelight#LaughterLitLanes

Overcoming trauma isn't just about processing memories of terrible things. It also includes learning to set boundaries with others, and figuring out who and how to trust. Find out more in this episode at https://lnkd.in/eBxDEqTv or on Spotify etc. #TherapistsConnect

This is why I often start with Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation (STAIR) when working with people who have had traumatic experiences. It aims to address emotion regulation difficulties and adjusting unhelpful relationship patterns. Trauma work can feel like standing out in the rain without a raincoat. Coping skills are that raincoat - you may still get wet, but the impact might be easier to withstand.
