might be a controversial opinion, but unless it comes to quality & safety, I don’t feel like we should be hung up on “documented processes” of how to do things. coming from a product supply background, it’s always where’s the SOP for this or the SOP for that; while it definitely sets the foundation, helps you take the learnings from those who’ve done it before and has proven to be efficient; we should allow ourselves to explore & experiment with the way we approach problems. you’ll be surprised by the new, fresh, easy methods you can discover if you just let your imagination & intuition guide you through. so as long as you’re not directly affecting quality of product, health & safety of individuals, internal controls…etc; take the process as a guideline but don’t be necessarily hung up on it to the dot. it’s healthy to challenge the status quo every once in a while; you’ll be surprised by what you have to add!

😂😂😂 If process is tedious to follow and doesn’t give any value to anyone apart from control from the top… just ditch it! Proces should help quality and those who use that process to be efficient.

I have known Chris, virtually that is, for about 5 years now. He and I disagree and agree on a lot of things--that is ok. This post is on target. I have had many conversations over the past month about certifications and veterans, especially the darn PMP. I will continue to dispel this myth that veterans have to get certifications to be a viable candidate in the workforce. This is the farthest from the truth. Experience solving challenges is what gets you hired in the workforce. How many of you are on the left side of this picture. Chasing each and every cert like a gold badge from Pokemon? How many of you are on the right side? Employers have a real problem in the civilian world right now and that is a workforce that for the most part does not have the skills needed to be successful in the future. Skills like--Analytics, programming, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, Process improvement, Technology design, Business Process Reengineering, Cyber, etc. Focus on getting experience and education in those skills and you make yourself marketable. If I could get up in front of veterans today I would tell them the heck with the PMP, PHR, etc etc. Take a course in Business Analytics. Most colleges offer a year long course in it, it is covered by GI Bill and will make you marketable. Always willing to chat with anyone on this topic.
My Sunday thought. Now, off to the beach.
