In continuation of my story in ET Telecom yesterday while #Honor will create some ripples in the market, it is not going to be an easy ride for them. Beyond the points mentioned by me in my article here are some more reasons as to why I am making this statement. I believe they are planning to hit the market in the mid premium segment where everybody who is a somebody has a presence with #Samsung, #Oppo and #Vivo having established themselves well enough as brands. Even #Realme has met with some success with their #Realme11Pro series positioning itself as a contender here. If they are coming with just 1 device online it may be a better route, but selling mid end devices in online is not easy. Even if I were to assume that the customer can see, feel and experience the device offline before going online to buy, the availability/visibility across offline outlets right from the day one will be difficult for this to happen. As per reports, the offline team and distribution is still not closed fully and Realme distributors are not breaking easily. Some reports allege Realme holding on to their partners tightly and hiring experts in retail. With yesterday's launch of #redmi125g, Xiaomi distributors with whom I spoke do see a comeback possibility for the brand. They would also not get carried away easily now. With the festival season starting August most brands would have done their tie ups with the channel on the targets. For a new brand to enter during the festival season and get volumes will not be easy. All and all a not so easy re entry for #Honor in India.
