Hi, this is Sopheap Kong 57, a Cambodian. I am happy to share my personal story of smoking and quit. I was a cigarette smoker since I was12, when I guard the bifolio in the jungle during Khmer Rouge Regime because many insects bit my head. In the jungle the cigarettes made from the leaves of tree (slek sang ke) in Khmer language. After Khmer Rouge Regime, I continue to smoke (a box of cigarette per day). I quit smoking from 2007-2009 (During I earn a Master Degree course). Then, I smoke again from 2010-2023. Then I quit smoking since February 2024 until now. My lessons learned reason of quit smoking: 1. Commit not to smoke, 2. Live in a free smoke environment, 3. Perceive smoking affects personal health and the others; and 4. Value money for free from smoking. Hope it is useful.

Smoking effects the human body in 4000 way's . While working as a Senior Consultant Rehabilitation i got interested in how to motivate male- female to quit smoking. A very unique idea came to me as let me know the behavior of male female in intimate time. One couple came for Rehabilitation for Life Style Modification came. I asked his wife does your husband smoke -she said yes, he smokes 2 packets daily. I asked "Do you like his smell during close proximity when you both kiss each other" she said NO. But what to do. I told her from today onwards when he kisses you just say it's bad smell & act nauseating as you are going to vomit. She agreed. After 3 days when they came, she told me " HE IS NOT SMOKING NOT EVEN IN OFFICE". I thanked her. After this approach he became off smoking. I was able to guide motivate 170 married couple. One can try. Every Dr must understand the depth of Rehabilitation means learning Reliving -redesign the lifestyle.

Tobacco cessation, arts and health, and reducing maternal mortality are very sensitive matters that call for everyone's effort; it was a fashion to smoke, but now it's a slow death trap that kills you silently. Let's join hands in this struggle. All I would wish is for governments to give up that huge revenue collection from tobacco and have more healthy citizens or populations; this can reduce the high costs governments inject into treating some of these tobacco-related diseases .

Excellent. Use of of the arts, especially performing arts is very important. We are doing the same in Kenya. We did that with HIV/AIDS, Erectile Dysfunction (ED) and now with mental stress among young adults.

To quit smoking. Smoking cessation lowers the risk of cancer and other serious health problems. Counselling, behaviour therapy, medicines, and nicotine-containing products, such as nicotine patches, gum, lozenges, inhalers, and nasal sprays, may be used to help a person quit smoking.

Huh...! I've seen a lot of drama now here in LinkedIn. Before, we used to read novels if we want drama. How's the anti smoking campaign? I still feel good smoking, because of nicotine. Governments should consider implementing a unified design that combines a trash receptacle and an ashtray in public areas. This approach would help mitigate the issue of indiscriminate disposal of cigarette butts, promoting cleaner surroundings.

In addition to behavioral support delivered by health-care providers, digital cessation interventions, and pharmacological treatments, participation in mutual support community addresses both cessation and the pervasive challenge of loneliness. The community provides guidance, support, a shared sense of purpose and mission... and so much more! I've been involved in cessation for more than 30 years. Do you know how many have referred to their tobacco or nicotine delivery system as their best friend? An astounding number. We need better friends, and plenty of them! And, these communities are available for free or by donation. Free and effective. I've seen the results firsthand. Our health and the health of the planet are precious. Why not do all that we can to care for them, for us?

I completely agree with Nandita Das that the arts have a way of tapping into the feelings and the psychology of humans that can affect decision making, even in health. Cinema, visual arts, and music have long been mediums used to shift cultural barometers, so it is useful to place more attention on ways we can use the arts to shift the culture of our collective and individual health. I enjoyed participating in the World Health Organization’s 2024 Health for All Film Festival for this exact reason!

The one part of Tobacco Industry after Billions that was put into Marketing as well Good, Bad or Indifference the total of Tobacco utilization currently to statistics is only 11.5% utilization in population of 8 Billion Humans. With the infusion of Vaping the Good, Bad or Indifferent has increased and with Evolution only certain Eras still utilize certain tobacco products and the decline in other age brackets has tremendously decreased. The Smoke Cessation Programs are vital for those choosing to quit or due to unforeseen situations have to quit its has new factors that are effective and efficient for those choosing to stop and the understanding of those who chose to continue.
