I often hear from workers who aren't fully aware of the benefits available to them through their Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs). Here are the top three ways you can make the most of your EAP: 🧠 Mental Health Support: Many EAPs offer confidential counseling services for stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns. Don’t hesitate to take advantage of these resources—they’re there to support your well-being. 💰 Financial Advice: Struggling with debt, budgeting, or financial planning? EAPs often provide access to financial counseling services. These can be incredibly valuable for managing your finances and planning for the future. 🙌 Work-Life Balance: EAPs frequently offer resources to help with work-life balance, including time management workshops, childcare referrals, and eldercare support. Utilizing these services can make your daily life more manageable and less stressful. Remember, these services are confidential and designed to support you. In 2021, we introduced a new concept called “Recreation leave”. As a standard, all employees at Inspire accrue 10 days of sick & carer's leave per year, which in total converts to 75 hours. Employees who have accrued more than 75 hours of sick & carer's leave, can now take up to 1 day per month of Recreational Leave and claim it as sick & carer's leave. We understand that life in the 21st century can be fast-paced and hectic. In the spirit of mental health and wellbeing, we are hopeful that Recretional Leave will enable employees to pause and take time to do things they love. This could be used for many things such has spending time with your family at the beach, or going on a fishing trip. Thinking about 'Working mums' sparks thoughts of a significant study by MALTESERS. The research uncovers workplace remarks that working mums find tiresome, including 'You look tired,' 'she's only part-time,' and 'I wish I could have Fridays off.' Many are accustomed to hearing comments about their work/motherhood balance, like 'I forgot you leave early' or 'I bet it feels like a break coming into the office.' Out of 1,000 polled working mums, 41% feel burnout while juggling jobs and motherhood, with emotional stress (32%) and childcare challenges (30%) as top struggles. Interestingly, 55% want to shift workplace language and seek more recognition, despite 63% believing no harm is meant. Additionally, 26% shared those coworkers corrected themselves when making potentially insensitive comments. Embracing the call for empathetic support to working mums.
