#ThrowbackThursday!
"To know what one is, you need to know where they have been and how they got there."
In 1962, Jay and Ruth Smart founded Won-Door Corporation in Salt Lake City, Utah. When Jay began work on a two-track folding partition, the door was so revolutionary, that it led a customer to suggest that he name his new company Won-Door, “because this door is truly WONDERFUL."

How could they miss?
The recent bridge failure underscores the need for proactive measures to protect against impact loads on bridge piers. While earlier designs may not have considered this specific risk, it's crucial that we prioritize safety by retrofitting existing structures with modern protective measures.
Happy 5 Year Anniversary Neil! 🥳

What is your favorite part of this job? It all comes down to the PIDCs mission statement on the side of the company truck. Sometimes, thoughts and intentions are so obvious they are hidden in plain sight. A Unifying Component. Being someone who can meet the client as well as the contractor and tradesmen where they are at. Being able to work with both to get the best outcome for the owner, contractor, and ourselves both personally and as a company. Understanding that there will be challenges along the way, meeting schedule, staying on budget, having to think outside of the box when working on historically unique buildings, relying on years of experience with everyone on the team. Empowering people to speak up and share. If you are the only one speaking, you are not learning ~ President Lyndon Johnson
What accomplishments / Success are you most proud of after 5 years at PIDC? My journey into construction started in 1997. I was attending Wentworth and was in the Architectural Engineering program. My freshman year project was to draw up plans as if I were the architect of The First Church of Christ, Scientist. Fast forward 25 years later, I was installing the state of Massachusetts first 3 door elevator inside that same church. This elevator would and is now helping provide accessibility from their underground parking garage, exterior plaza, to the church's auditorium. Being able to work on a Landmark building within the city of Boston and leaving your own mark. Providing a unique service that is actually helping people. This is what I would consider a success and something I am proud of.

Managing Director || Slade Land Use, Environmental, and Transportation Planning, LLC, (“Slade”) || We build more than buildings, we build communities and people || DBE, MBE, WBE, WOSB,
Embarking on a journey to launch a company was never about having a backup plan for me; it was a clarion call—a mission to bring transformative change to the construction industry. Here's the heart of MY story. 😎
My path was carved through adversity, leading to the birth of Slade LLC, a venture grounded in necessity and courage to venture into new territories.
With a diverse background spanning communication studies, political science, urban planning, and law (yes, you read that right! #DidYouKnowThat), I wasn't just ready to challenge the status quo. I was prepared to redefine it!
But here's the twist—I wasn't just looking to fill a gap in the construction industry with integrity, innovation, and inclusivity. I was eager to get my hands dirty, literally. Testing the soil, not shying away from the grit and grind of the field, I embraced the essence of construction with open arms.
This wasn't a detour from a legal career. No, it was a deliberate choice to embrace a mission that called to me, loudly and clearly.
My venture into Slade LLC was proof that the road less traveled often unveils our truest callings.
And answering THIS call?
It's been the most gratifying decision of my life!
Now, I turn to you: What's the most uncommon decision you've ever made in your career, one that raised eyebrows but felt unequivocally right to you?
Let me know!

Purpose. Jones Power’s purpose is to ensure a prosperous future for our children and families, our communities, and our country by being a leader in the strategic development of America’s energy infrastructure, driving #sustainability, #reliability, and #affordability for all.
On paper, a Topping Out Ceremony celebrates the completion of a building's structural framework. For Jones, it means much more – a powerful testament to teamwork, vision, hard work, passion, and years of planning.
We are incredibly proud of the work that has led to this milestone, and we CAN’T WAIT for what lies ahead.
