WHAT A WEEK!! 7 days of wearing the pad dress... Hopefully, we can reach 200,000 Bloody Big Survey responses super soon so I can wear normal clothes at work again!
From a skin cancer biopsy (get your skin checked!), to grocery shopping and work meetings, it has been eventful, to say the least.
Where would you like to see me go next in the dress? Comment below 👇
I am doing this because this data is so important to Share the Dignity, the data we collect from the Bloody Big Survey helps shape our advocacy work for the next few years and can help us create real change here in Australia.
So please share this post far and wide, and if you haven't already, take the Bloody Big Survey so I can get out of this dress - https://lnkd.in/gpmT6kyB

Brands who get it.
Anyone who knows me, knows I cannot live without my sunscreen...yes even in the winter and mainly because I have an almond mom (if you know you know)
So seeing Nivea install sun cream dispensary machines in the Netherlands to try combat skin cancer is something I can 100% get on board with.
Don't worry, I've heard all the "but its not even sunny" comments, and while that may be true, over 90% of UV rays can still pass through a light cloud cover and cause sunburn.
Bet you didn't know that 😏
Personally, I don't think its talked about enough.
According to Cancer Research UK, the latest analysis shows there are 17,500 cases being diagnosed per year, and projections reveal that these high numbers could continue to increase by around 50% over the next 20 years.
Yikes.
While everything typically looks better with a tan or so the media makes us think so, look after your skin.
Wear your sun cream boys and girls 😎

It's Melanoma and Skin Cancer Awareness Month, but that doesn't mean you can't soak up some sunshine! Here are some #CareSmarter tips to keep your skin safe this summer:
• Seek shade, especially during peak sun hours (10 am - 4 pm). Think umbrellas, beach tents, or shady areas under trees.
• Wear long-sleeved shirts and cover-ups.
• Put on a hat! Wide-brimmed hats protect your face, ears, and neck.
• Use broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher sunscreen generously and reapply every two hours, or more often if swimming or sweating.
By following these simple steps, you can enjoy all the fun summer has to offer while protecting your skin from harmful UV rays. Learn the ABCDEs of Melanoma here: https://lnkd.in/dptVY4Ks

Raising awareness about the damaging effects of the sun on skin.
So many of us do not apply enough product to protect our selves from sun damage.
Not only is it important to help prevent skin cancer, but to keep your skin hydrated, healthy and reduce the aging effects of the sun.
Choose the right product to suit your skin and apply it in generous amounts. Two fingers up to sun damage!

‘Do not wait; the time will never be 'just right.' Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along.’ – George Herbert.
This quote resonates deeply with many of us who have been postponing life changing decisions in general and especially when considering the daunting statistic that 2 in 3 Australians will be diagnosed with skin cancer by the age of 70. 🌞🛡
Throughout my years in skin cancer practice, the apprehension surrounding skin checks is a common theme. There's Sarah, a mother, who approached her check with trepidation but found solace after the early detection of a treatable skin condition. Then there's John, who delayed his visit out of fear, only to discover his mole was benign. Their experiences are powerful reminders of the benefits of proactive healthcare.
The sense of relief I witness in my patients upon hearing 'All is clear' is profound. It highlights a simple truth: often, the fear of the unknown is more daunting than reality itself.
It's rare now that I have to deliver news of poor survival prospects after a melanoma diagnosis, largely because regular skin checks lead to early detection and significantly better outcomes.
This is the heart of our practice: proactive skin checks are potentially lifesaving. They provide more than detection; they offer peace of mind.
Let’s transform anxiety into proactive action, not just for the health of your skin, but for success in all aspects of life. Starting where we stand, embracing proactive steps, and addressing challenges head-on can lead to remarkable achievements.
Your health, your peace of mind, your beautiful skin, and your success in life are all incredibly worthwhile.

Ironic that in Sun Awareness week, we finally see it 👇🏾
But all the more reason to be extremely conscious of any changes to your skin.
Non-melanoma skin cancer generally presents with a growth or unusual patch - it might be smooth, bumpy or crusty and can be a range of colours.
Melanoma is generally seen as a new mole or changes to an existing mole. Melanomas are often 2 or more colours, large (or growing), bleeding, itchy or uneven in shape.
It’s really important to keep checking your skin (and your loved one’s skin) to see for any changes. If you see anything that worries you, make an urgent appointment with a doctor or healthcare professional to check it out. I’m always available in my private practice.
And try to follow these steps:
☀️ stay out of the sun during the hottest hours or cover up
☀️use sunscreen
☀️wear hats and sunglasses
☀️protect children (their skin is more sensitive)
