Now available for hire and sale the Genesi corner / vehicle hitch mount davit. This gets over some problems that other systems have, like retrieving the casualty and full personnel riding with secondary back up from behind the davit. Corner davits are ideal where the area to enter may be a large tank or opening where access can only be made from the corner because of the span. With Genesi the primary personnel riding winch and secondary fall arrest retrieve block are both mounted on the top of the davit, as is the Genesi pole hoist. Other systems may mount them front and back of the davit arm. This all sounds fine until you actually do need to perform a rescue, then having primary or secondary devices that are offset can create issues. The fact that this corner davit also uses legs set at ground level means you can extract the casualty relatively easily, some systems actually require you to try and tilt the whole unit to the side and if your RAMS are written correctly this would immediately be identified as introducing a hazard! Currently we can only use this system with a 600mm arm but we are already working on a solution with Genesi to be able to use the 1200mm arm. All equipment used should be derived from a site specific risk assessment and if this doesn't suit your particular application we will have a solution that will be fit for purpose. We now have all of the Genesi equipment we distribute ready for hire as well as for sale, so if you need reassurance to prove it's perfect for your application, hire before you buy so you know it's the right choice. We are all about providing solutions and adding Genesi to our product range ensures that we are always able to offer what's exactly right for you because a number of these products fill gaps in the market place. We have always had Sala corner davits in the hire fleet but Sala discontinued these a good while ago so our fleet needed an update and after extensive writing of RAMS for what we needed Genesi provided the solution. We have also had pole hoist systems in our fleet for some while and whilst these are still available we really needed a double attachment option and again Genesi fulfilled the criteria. Whilst we will always have a hire fleet, our aim was to also be able to offer everything that we do for sale as well, for some customers hiring is right and for others ownership will give better benefits. A high-level international group looked at the challenges of Managing Impact and Vibration in the Maritime Workplace. With focus on Repeated Shock and Whole Body Vibration, presenters and discussions showed how much has changed and improved over the past decade. Some sectors now need to catch up quickly! NEXT GEN Workshop Lead, John Haynes, opened the session with a presentation highlighting ‘Effective RS & WBV Training for the Team.’ This has proved to be very successful for all involved, from Onshore Managers to Crews and Passengers. This latest edition of the NEXT GEN Shock Mitigation Workshop was run via Teams on 19 March. James Glover, MD of Maritime Systems showed ‘The Benefits of Real Time Versus Historic Vibration Data for Decision Making.’ Accelerometers can be linked to a traffic light system showing green - amber - red. Joseph Salmon, MD of Salmon Power Sports demonstrated the value of ‘Ballast Systems to Improve Ride Quality and Reduce Slamming on Planing Vessels.’ Balancing heavy engines at the stern with movable water ballast at the bow. Dr Tom Gunston, Gunston Consulting / British and ISO Standards gave a thorough overview of ‘How Marine Suspension Seating Requirements and Specifications are Evolving.’ Rob Taylor, Code Vessel Lead at Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA) looked at the challenges of developing rules and regulations for vessels.
