#Testimony During my internship, I observed a team struggling with the implementation of safety management in their activities. But after a few weeks observation, I understood that the workers wasn’t involved in the process of Safety Management and they understood not why they had to respect Safety measures. After that, I decided to explain to them the necessary to apply Safety’s Measures in their respective activities. #Result_1 : After one month and half on Lafigué site, I was able to get employees or workers who understood the importance to learn Safety management. #Result_2 : Secondly, even if there was someone who have difficulties to implement Safety Management, in generally, I was able to get employees who implement Safeties measures. #Result_3 : Finally, three months later, all employees nearly maked efforts to observe and implement Safeties Policies in their activities everyday. What impacted me is the fact that, employees came to me and told me when there was lack of PPE(Personal Protection Equipment)/ CPE(Collective Protection Equipment) or when there was lack of Safeties measures. #This_is_my_experience

🎉Thrilled to announce that I have finished internship with IWS for contracting and supplies that it was very useful for me to learn the basics of different topics that they are very important for me. We started with pumps💦and we learned: -Pump classification -Centrifugal pumps( theory of operation-classification-components..etc) -Positive displacement pump - Prime movers Then we moved to very important topic which is Pipeline &Valves ⚙️, we learned: -Types of pipes -Pipe selection -Types of valves -Valve selection -Cost benefit, sustainability and economics of scale The third topic was firefighting system👩🏻🚒🚒, and we learned: -Introduction and story of fire -Fire codes and standards -Fire suppression systems -Design and calculations for fire systems -Fire alarm systems And the last topic that was very new and useful for me which was about motors and control panel of the pump and firefighting system🎛️. Happy to be in this internship for about one month with an inspiring and hardworking instructor Eng Karim Abosalem ❤️

Throwback where one year ago I did my internship at a plastic sack company. During my internship I also took measurements to plot the correct fire extinguisher position according to the calculations. As well as inspecting the condition of what is in the company. From this experience, my insights opened in setting fire extinguishers and how to carry out inspections. #onthejobtraining #fireextinguisher #safety

Developmental thought of the day: Build upon what you know. I've been a safety intern for the last 2 years, learning the craft while I go through school, work full-time as a paramedic, being a husband and a father; learning the safety craft from my mentors. My increasing responsibilities at my internship have led me to reflect on this: build upon what you know. I didn't know much at all of the EHS field when I started my internship, but I did have my foundation in emergency response and public safety. Utilizing that, I have been able to find a footing at my internship and absorb the multitude of lessons in EHS.

One thing I’ve enjoyed learning about most at my internship so far is phase one environmental site assessments (ESA). Although reading a phase one environmental site assessment was tedious, I learned a great deal from it. I learned many acronyms and terms used daily by environmental professionals; just a few examples include, REC (Recognized Environmental Condition), BLM (Bureau of Land Management), and EPA (Environmental Protection Agency). More importantly, I learned how phase one ESAs are written and what they can do.
