Shifting from a salaried position into your own private practice can feel like a huge leap into the world of unknowns. * My experience of supervision has been instrumental in supporting me alongside the leap. * I have reflected on: self-doubt, imposter syndrome, role clarity, managing disappointments, pressure and expectations. * Yesterday at supervision, I discussed a complex case reflection. I started the discussion feeling uncertain of my role, lacking confidence with clinical reasoning, therapy choices and gains made. * I finished the session feeling 100% more confident, validated and assured. 1. I had a plan (which was the polar opposite to what I had thought was my plan), 2. A reminder to come back to client-centred practice (how had I got so off track?!) 3. An intention to collaborate more with other providers to ensure the best outcomes (I have always worked in teams, why was I not now just because I am in private practice?!) These reflections were absolute gold nuggets. Effective supervision is: *Transformative - it takes us from one space to another *Encourages learning and growth - helps us see the gaps in our practice *Encourages us to make a PLAN to move forward - often differently. If you are struggling to take "leaps" in your practice, please reach out to me at Workitwell for Professional Supervision.

October Mantra: “If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you.” - Fred Devito . Change in life is often not easy but is unavoidable. . Change often presents as a challenge and is often the path we must take to success. . When we face challenging situations in life we are pushed to do better. . Our challenges propel us to new heights of success and stretch our capability to grow and learn. . Challenges aren’t always what we want but it can be an incredible opportunity for something good to come into our lives. . So when you are challenged, don’t give up. It’s okay to rest or slow down, but don’t give up. . Be patient. Give yourself grace. . But keep going and push through. . One step at a time. One day at a time. . What goals do you have for this month? . What challenges have you encountered that you are pushing through? . #goals #success #focus #motivation #nursesonlinkedin _________________________________ Next Level Nurse Consulting, LLC: Providing medical information and valuable healthcare expertise to attorney clients nationwide. 📧 lakeisha@nextlevelnurseconsulting.com 📞 (858) 250-0570

If you're a medical laboratory or healthcare professional, you know that self-advocacy is key to success. After all, you're the expert on your own career, and no one knows your ambitions better than you do. But self-advocacy can be hard, especially when you're up against seemingly insurmountable odds. Maybe you're trying to land a promotion, or negotiate a raise, or simply get your voice heard in a meeting. Whatever the situation, here are four tips to help you advocate for yourself like a pro. 1. 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲. You can't advocate for yourself effectively if you don't know your own worth. So take some time to assess your skills, experience, and accomplishments. What do you bring to the table that others don't? What makes you unique? Once you know your value, you can communicate it with confidence. 2. 𝗕𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱. When you're advocating for yourself, you need to be able to back up your claims. So do your homework and come to the table armed with data, examples, and anything else that will support your case. 3. 𝗕𝗲 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗴𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲. There's a fine line between being assertive and being aggressive, and it's important to stay on the right side of it. Be firm in your convictions, but don't be pushy or disrespectful. Remember, you're trying to win people over, not alienate them. 4. 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲, 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲, 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲. Advocating for yourself is a skill, and like any skill, it takes practice to perfect. So next time you're in a situation where you need to speak up, don't be afraid to give it a try. The more you do it, the better you'll get. By the way, if you need help building this and other critical soft skills, I invite you to check out Trendy Elite's on demand soft skills resource library to fast track your success. #personalgrowth #talentmanagement #careeradvancement #leadershiptidbits #leadershipdevelopment #medicallaboratory

If you are having the audacity to even think about starting a private practice, we want to say congratulations! 🎉 Transitioning from a 9-5 job to starting your own therapy practice is an exciting but daunting journey. As you contemplate this significant change, We want to expound on one of the 10 tips we gave in our Bestie Blog Post, 10 Things for Therapists to Consider When Transitioning to Full Time Practice: Test it Out. 🫶🏾Start Slowly: Begin with just 2-3 clients to ease yourself into the process. Starting small allows you to focus on delivering quality therapy sessions without feeling overwhelmed. As you gain confidence and experience, you can gradually increase the number of clients you see. 🫶🏾Experiment with Different Schedules: Flexibility is key when building your caseload while still working your 9-5 job. Explore various scheduling options to find what works best for you. Whether it’s seeing clients on weekends, evenings, or during lunch breaks, find a schedule that aligns with your lifestyle and commitments. 🫶🏾Proof of Concept: Building a small caseload before quitting your job provides you with proof of concept. It allows you to validate your business idea and confirm that there is demand for your services. Positive feedback and referrals from your initial clients can boost your confidence and reassure you that you’re making the right decision. 🫶🏾Refine Your Processes: Use this time to iron out your systems and processes. Experiment with different intake procedures, billing methods, and therapeutic techniques. Identifying and addressing any challenges or inefficiencies early on will help you streamline your practice and provide a better experience for your clients.
