🦆 I made an AI chat app with #typescript #nextjs #reduxtoolkit #aws so that I could start playing with AWS Bedrock. Here is the code. Take a look and let me know what you think. My hope is that it might get a few others started with the same tech. As a big fan of cloud tech (and AWS in particular) it's really exciting to have this capability made available via Amazon Web Services (AWS). It makes for a cheaper discovery and more measurable production expenditure. I've also rediscovered the joy of using Redux via the RTK. It's simply and fantastic, time-saving state manager for React. Add in the type safety that comes with using it alongside Typescript and you have a great development experience. I've been using Amplify Gen 2 in preview over the last few months, and here are some of the features I love: ⌨️ TypeScript-first approach: You define auth, data, storage and everything else in your backend using the TypeScript programming language. 🏰 Developer sandboxes: You can iterate much more quickly as you develop your application, without having to wait for cloud redeployments. Did you know AWS is developing a Low Latency Runtime for JavaScript on AWS Lambda? Here's more: LLRT (Low Latency Runtime) is a lightweight JavaScript runtime designed for fast and efficient serverless applications. Numbers: 🔹 10x faster startup (cold start) 🔹 2x lower costs Essentially, it's a JavaScript runtime with the QuickJS engine under the hood, and all the APIs are in Rust. This is what makes it so fast. When to use it: 🔹 Data transformation 🔹 Latency-critical apps 🔹 AWS service integration 🔹 Functions with high volume 🔹 Server-side rendering (SSR) React applications When not to use it: 🔸 Compute-heavy JavaScript 🔸 Simulation 🔸 Streaming 🔸 N-API They could release the first version by the end of this year. 🚀 Excited to share my latest project on AWS! 🌟 I've just completed a fascinating endeavor: building a photo-sharing web application akin to Instagram, but with a twist of AWS magic! 📸✨ 🎯 The Problem: In a world dominated by visual content, there's always room for a new platform where users can effortlessly share their moments with the world. However, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security while keeping costs in check is no small feat. 🛠️ The Solution: Leveraging the robust capabilities of AWS, I architected a solution that ticks all the boxes. Here's a glimpse into the key AWS services I utilized: Amazon S3: As the backbone of storage, S3 provided a scalable and durable repository for all uploaded photos. Amazon DynamoDB: Handling metadata efficiently, DynamoDB ensured seamless access to photo details, user information, likes, and comments. AWS Lambda and API Gateway: With Lambda functions powering the backend logic and API Gateway orchestrating RESTful endpoints, the application stayed responsive and agile. Amazon Cognito: For user authentication and authorization, Cognito offered a secure and scalable solution. Amazon CloudFront: Accelerating content delivery worldwide, CloudFront ensured a snappy user experience with low latency and high transfer speeds. Amazon CloudWatch: Monitoring and logging were made a breeze with CloudWatch, providing insights into system health and performance. 💡 Skills Demonstrated: Through this project, I showcased proficiency in: Architecting cloud-native applications on AWS.
