Ready for next week? With the large numbers of applicants expected, here are some tips for your planning: - utilize public transportation and ride-share services as parking may fill up quickly. - expect inclement weather and hot temperatures so bring an umbrella (sun cover and/or rain) and water (to stay hydrated) - bring only absolute necessities to expedite clearance though the security screening process. The "bag line" is anticipated to be much longer than the "no-bag" line. Do not bring prohibited items. - expect long lines so stagger arrival throughout the day.. There are several hundred opportunities with multiple positions. - if your plans have changed, please adjust or cancel your registration as needed.

Okay so what is it, day 3? of building the Jobs Fair for those impacted at Dyson. I want to keep this process as public as possible, particularly as I know a number of you personally. We have our first few employers on board. This is being capped at 20. They need to be rich in diversity (people, location, challenge, industry space.) We have speakers on board - Dyson centric, uplifting & authentic. Potentially open to one more. Many other employers reviewing options (who is available, which budget does it come out of, what is the message we want to convey, can we get it signed off etc) and that’s the momentum that I’m keen on pushing. So much so Monday at 9 & 9:30 already booked in despite football coming home. Graphics people briefed, videography briefed - that liaising with venue, what is the experience we want to create, HOW do we create something for those not in attendance, maximise ROI from sponsors - boring little things like but what info do we put on lanyards, how do we flow people into the venue, do we need to tweak our visual identity and how does that compare to previous Design Truth events. We want to sell tickets by end of next week so brains will be racking over the weekend and that deadline has been set. Tickets will be made available via an eventbrite link. You will be able to access that via the Design Truth website or the inevitable group chat it finds itself in. We continue forward with Friday's #dodskillbridge spotlight, and Day 3 of our #veteran employees who came through our #skillbridge program at Cushman & Wakefield and C&W Services! Next up-Billy Flagg. Billy started his #skillbridge internship in July of 2021 after serving 9 years in the #Army, and has been outstanding ever since! Billy has worn many hats to include assisting our #veteran applicants with the job search process, leading our #militaryspouse program, and initiating #talent marketing and sourcing campaigns. Billy continues to #makeanimpact in all that he does. Read below to learn more! 1. What interested you in accepting an opportunity with Cushman & Wakefield/ C&W Services? The Military and Veterans programs really attracted me to Cushman & Wakefield. The focus C&W has on the entire military community was something I knew I had to be a part of. Commercial real estate in general was something I really didn't know much about, and the thought of learning something completely out of my comfort zone was exciting to me. There are so many departments that keep this business running, and I wanted to make a difference here. 2. What skill sets and experiences from the #military helped you transition into your new role? What similarities or differences have you experienced? As a mechanic and a recruiter, I was constantly tested to think outside of the box and take a creative approach to every problem. In the talent space here, both of those hold true. As a business-to-business company, we have to think outside of the box when it comes to attracting talent. The art of talent attraction is similar, sending the right marketing message, at the right time to the right audience. One big difference I found between talent acquisition here and talent acquisition in the Army, is that candidates actually apply to these roles! 3. What do you enjoy most about your position, team, and working for Cushman & Wakefield/ C&W Services? I really enjoy being able to give back to the military community. Every day I am on the phone either with veterans or military spouses, playing a part in their employment journey. I also love being able to develop marketing plans to continue attracting the best talent the world has to offer. The Military & Veterans team is world class, and I am honored to be a part of it.  4. What advice or suggestions would you give to other #transitioningservicemembers and #veterans? Get in the transition mindset early. I started a year out, and even that was too late! Ensure you are networking and finding out what it is that you really want to do. Network! Having informational interviews with people who work in the role that you are targeting, and who work at the company you are targeting will prove to be extremely beneficial. This is a learning process. Gather as much intel as you can about roles that interest you and develop a plan to move forward. We are excited to be #InTheNews for our Record Sealing event in Fort Smith. Along with our partner, Chance for Change, we were able to host our first “Arkansas Reentry Integrated Support Expo.” The expo allowed us to help so many Arkansans with their record-sealing needs while also providing other opportunities from various vendors for Amnesty (misdemeanor warrants dropped and fines reset), Housing Assistance, Mental Health Services, Driver Control, Second Chance Job Fair, Adult Education Opportunities and Recovery Assistance. "It opens doors and opportunities. It helps you find employment. It helps you find housing. It tells you what your next steps are. It gives you the know-how to do those things that you are being required to do," Felicia Lyons, the founder and CEO of Chance for Change, said. "Because if you don't do those things, guess what? okay the Dyson jobs fair. Another day done. 9,9:30,11,1, 2, 2:30, 3, 3:30, 4, 4:30 & 5 / calendar rammed again. 5k nailed. 11 employers signed up, 6 speakers on board. Dyson-centric / people like Mark Joynson-Bickerstaffe, Adam Root, Tom Ridley (Adam Bates tbc), Annmarie Nicolson can talk authentically about life outside the Dyson bubble. Starting a business, raising capital, retraining, all that good stuff. Many more employers looking at budgets, timelines and whilst I may have enough (capping at 20) I want to keep that momentum going. So let's keep having that conversation. Businesses now looking strategically at the scale of talent available, even having dialogue around satellite offices and what that could look like. Why are tickets not available yet? We are working on a new visual identity for this, takes a bit of time. By the end of week we should be good to go graphically, and then can use the final few weeks to fill out the remaining employer slots which is moving very (very) fast.
