In my work with Holy Family University as an Industry Mentor for the School of Business and Technology, I send the Computer Science students a monthly newsletter. This contains the goings on in the industry, information about trends, and learning opportunities outside the classroom. 📢 Department of Computer Science at the University of Oxford ranked best in the UK in today’s Guardian’s best UK universities 2024. The Guardian uses eight measures of performance, covering all stages of the student lifecycle, to put together a league table for 66 subjects. And we are delighted that Department of Computer Science ranked best for Computer science and information systems. Beware of profit-making companies (BCS) and check sources. 😥 Change is needed, but the change should be incremental, not radical. Look at OCR, AQA and other exam boards about the assessment of the new raft of GCSEs with online assessment. I have been lucky to discuss assessment with examination bodies and the rationale for change is well documented.
