📣 Following an announcement today at the Our Ocean Greece Conference, we are delighted to share that over $1m has been committed to fund 3 new Ocean Risk and Resilience Action Alliance projects thanks to the governments of Canada and the UK! Environment and Climate Change Canada is supporting Save The Waves Coalition to develop a parametric insurance product and surf ecosystem resilience trust fund in El Salvador to compensate coastal communities for revenue loss from the impacts of climate change. This builds on a concept phase supported by ORRAA through its Ocean Resilience Innovation Challenge (ORIC). The UK’s Blue Planet Fund will support: Coast 4C’s work in the Philippines to deliver regenerative seaweed farming packages to enhance the resilience of climate vulnerable coastal communities in and around MPAs, enhance MPA management, and inform the development of new financial products. WaterAid Nigeria’s work with the Lagos State Partnership for Coastal Resilience Initiative, a public-private partnership, to build a consultative platform that enhances community capacity and develops innovative and sustainable nature-based solutions to improve coastal resilience. 💡 Making that announcement at the Our Ocean Conference in Greece, ORRAA’s Executive Director Karen Sack, said "Today's announcement is another step towards achieving ORRAA's mission to build the resilience of 250 million climate vulnerable coastal people by 2030. These projects are all part of a broader effort to drive investment into sustainable and regenerative coastal and ocean natural capital in the Global South who often lack the financial resources to fund relief, recovery, and post-disaster reconstruction efforts.” Check out the comments below to find out more 👇 #ORRAA #SustainableBlueEconomy #OceanConservation #CoastalResilience

Business Executive who helps companies to transform the sustainability challenges into opportunities and growth
Studies have established a 40% reduction in mortality rates among golfers. So, golf is not only a social game that builds lasting friendships, but it also increases life expectancy. While making sure more people have a chance to enjoy the game of golf, and that golf is increasingly inclusive, the golfers, golf courses and the entiregolf industry must play their part in reducing carbon emissions and environmental impacts. Golf must also adapt to the changing climate. This is at the core of R&A’s strategy. Below is a link to an article about this topic (and the undersigned) from the Finnish Golf Magazine (in Finnish).

Excellent news showing the ecological and socio-economic payoff for efforts to remedy environmental issues. Paris showing that poor river health can be turned around with appropriate monitoring, management, and attention. "With a year to go to the Olympics, Paris is in the final phase of a historic clean-up which will soon see swimmers and divers back in the River Seine. Banned for a century because of the filthy water, city swimming is set to be one of the major legacies of the Games thanks to a €1.4bn (£1.2bn; $1.6bn) regeneration project universally hailed as a success. "Back in 1900 they measured the fish they caught in the competition, and none was bigger than the size of your hand," says Bill François of the Paris fishing federation. "Today we have between 30 and 35 species of fish in the city centre, and we get catfish measuring 2m long. It has been a transformation." According to Mr François, it is not only fish that have come back to the Seine, some reintroduced by angling associations. It is also molluscs, aquatic insects, sponges and crayfish. "The bottom of the river is developing a coat of the right kind of weed. The clearer the water, the more the weed grows, and then the weed filters the water to make it even clearer - it's a virtuous circle," he says."
