Spent some time giving back to the community today. We made sandwiches for the homeless, working with a great organization called Amigos de Guadalupe (https://lnkd.in/gDuEA3bE) that helps women and children.
Love this, Tola!

In 2024, it's sobering to realize that child labor still exists around the world. Despite many strides forward, millions of children are missing out on their childhoods, education, and basic rights because they have to work to help support their families. As professionals and community members, we can play a role in addressing this issue. Here are a few ways to make a difference: ➡ Educate and Advocate: Share information about child labor with your network. Raising awareness is the first step toward change. ➡ Support Ethical Practices: Consider supporting businesses that are committed to fair labor practices. Encouraging your organization to review and improve supply chains can help. ➡ Engage in Community Initiatives: Getting involved with or donating to organizations dedicated to ending child labor can have a big impact. Every bit of support helps. Child labor should be a relic of the past, not a reality of the present. This World Day against Child Labor (June 12), let's act on our commitments and #EndChildLabor! #FairTrade #CorporateSocialResponsibility #Sustainability #HumanRights #FutureGeneration #EducationForAll #impact

Breaking Barriers: Empowering Street and Homeless Children for a Better Tomorrow! On this International Street Children Day, let's shed light on the realities faced by these resilient young souls. While 'street children' and 'homeless children' are sometimes used interchangeably, there are important distinctions between the two. Not all homeless children live openly on the streets; many find themselves in hidden circumstances, such as sleeping on floors or in temporary accommodations like hostels. Shockingly, in 2018, around 9,500 children in the UK spent Christmas in hostels or temporary housing, often facing cramped living conditions and sharing facilities with strangers. Join us in raising awareness about this issue and providing essential support to empower street and homeless children. Together, we can break barriers, create equal opportunities, and build a brighter future for every child in need. #StreetChildrenDay #HomelessChildren #BreakingBarriers #RaisingAwareness #SupportingChildren #BuildingABetterFuture #EmpoweringYouth #MakingADifference #ChildrensRights #EqualOpportunities #SocialImpact #EndChildHomelessness #CharityWork

Can you help us throw a lifeline to women in housing crisis? In 2023, older women were the fastest growing group experiencing homelessness in Australia. And women often face specific challenges because they are care-givers, experience family violence or lack financial independence. But with your support, we can continue to help women who have nowhere else to go. Every day, we see how discrimination and disadvantage increase the risk of homelessness for women. That’s why we offer a specialist women’s service as part of our Homeless Persons’ Legal Service: to provide catered support that helps women get their lives on track. From helping women out of dangerous living situations, to preventing unfair evictions, our service offers support when women need it most. But we need more to do more. Please donate to help keep women in safe and secure housing. https://lnkd.in/ghinQ8qa Pictured from left to right: Senior Solicitor Rachael Barwick, Solicitor Zelie Appel, Community Caseworker Christina Kasavetis, Paralegal Ebony Seymour and Principal Solicitor Kira Levin.

This is great, Tola! Giving back to the community and connecting with the people outside the corporate space are precisely why I consider the downtime a blessing.
