One of the main challenges in achieving a successful #EnergyTransition within the industry is integrating #RenewableEnergy sources into other traditional energy sectors. This process, known as sector coupling, involves connecting different energy systems and optimizing their interaction to maximize #Efficiency and reduce #CarbonEmissions. "Electrification is efficiency" The future electrification is not simply new demand, it means many more things to the demand users, and to the electricity market, with its impact being very broad. The future decarbonised world will mean our future energy demand will be lower today. It also means large-scale electrification interacts with the energy market more, helps address oversupply, curtailment and constraint, and possible future storage. It means a much more efficient use of the renewable electricity we continue to grow. In Ireland Electrified this is what we are promoting through our members, a change in the policy framework to truly recognise what electrification can provide. #irelandelectrified #electrification #electricheat #electrictransport #evs #heatpumps #eboilers https://lnkd.in/gn7uAkn9

Let's talk about Hydrogen #efficiency Using renewable electricity directly is of course more energy-efficient than first converting it to hydrogen, then using that for power but this isn't always an option. There are areas where hydrogen really excels and can offer the most productive and when scale is achieved, the most low cost energy solution. Hydrogen is not only the most common element in the universe but as an energy vector it enables the storage and transportation of energy in a lightweight and durable solution. #mythbusting #hydrogen #hydrogeneconomy #efficiency #energyvector #solutions #energyindustry #cleanenergytechnologies #fuelcells #electrolysis

#GreenHydrogen is the perfect complement to #electrification, as its production can increase demand for renewable electricity, decarbonise non-electrification sectors, and provide another #energy #storage option in addition to #batteries or #PumpedHydro. Hydrogen development is essential but not sufficient for full #decarbonisation. It is important to promote the other vectors needed for the #EnergyTransition: #RenewableEnergy, both #PV and #wind #onshore and #offshore, storage, #InternationalInterconnections, etc. https://lnkd.in/de_9rpEW

Only one week to go until the following webinar: 𝑸𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝑨𝒔𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 & 𝑬𝑶𝑳 𝑻𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒏 𝑭𝒖𝒆𝒍 𝑪𝒆𝒍𝒍 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑬𝒍𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒍𝒚𝒔𝒆𝒓 𝑺𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒅𝒖𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 This webinar discusses the challenges of electrolyser usage and provides an overview of HORIBA's comprehensive solutions for accurate #rawmaterialanalysis, online measurements, and post-mortem analysis of electrolysers, as well as testing the next generation of electrolysers. Targets for the reduction of harmful #CO₂ #emissions are increasing, accelerating #electrified energy and driving concepts worldwide. To achieve a reliable #energy supply, it is necessary to create storage and balancing possibilities in addition to the expansion of renewable energy. #greenhydrogen is one solution, replacing natural gas in steel mills or using this as a raw material for the environmentally friendly production of #ammonia for fertilisers, for example. It can also be used in fuelcells for propulsion, electricity production, or in converted gas heating systems. However, this requires the rapid development and ramping up of high-performance #electrolysers and fuel cells. Register to attend: https://lnkd.in/eDKMggS9

🔍 DNV's latest Industry Insight on Energy Storage! I recently dove into the latest DNV report, "Closing the Energy Storage Gap," https://dnv.social/4dW. This report, based on a survey of 436 senior energy professionals worldwide, including 30% C-level executives, reveals the extent and direction of current storage trends. Here is some insight that caught my attention. 🌱 Green Hydrogen Hype: What took me by surprise is that a 52% of these professionals anticipate green hydrogen's development as a storage technology in their respective countries/regions over the next three years. Remarkably, this ranks green hydrogen just behind Lithium-ion batteries and pumped hydro, making it one of the most highly anticipated storage solutions and above other 10 storage technologies that cover the whole short, medium and long term duration spectrum (e.g. redox, lead or sodium-ion batteries, compressed air, thermal or solid mass gravitational storage, flywheels, supercapacitors, etc.). 🤔 Unpacking the Green Hydrogen Story: While green hydrogen shows great promise for decarbonizing sectors like fertilizers and refining industries that currently rely on black and grey hydrogen, its competitiveness in new markets as an energy vector like heat, transportation, or power sector is somewhat lacking. In the context of long-term electricity storage, it falls significantly short, with efficiencies in the 10-20% range, while competing against technologies such as gravitational, thermal, or pneumatic storage, with efficiencies in the 50-70% range. 🧐Rethinking Expectations: Given this prevailing enthusiasm for green hydrogen as storage, especially when more competitive alternatives exist, it raises an intriguing question: What's driving this optimism? One possibility is the formidable lobbying efforts promoting green hydrogen as the ultimate solution for achieving the Energy Transition. It's crucial for us to delve deeper, critically analyse the facts, and understand the underlying forces shaping these expectations. I believe that green hydrogen has a role to play in the energy transition, but it is important to be realistic about its potential and limitations. 💡🌍 #EnergyStorage #GreenHydrogen #Sustainability #DNVReport

The renewable energy sector is constantly evolving with new innovations, and the H2 electrolyzer is a prime example of this. Phrases such as "green hydrogen", "electrolysis", and "hydrogen electrolyzer" are becoming more widely recognized. But what is the process behind producing green hydrogen? What exactly is electrolysis, and why is this technology considered environmentally friendly? I've been closely connected to this realm in my present position, and I'm thrilled to present this tiny poster to hopefully quench your curiosity! #electrolyzer #hydrogen #renewable #energy #consulting #canada

💛 Understanding Yellow Hydrogen 💛 Yellow hydrogen is produced using electrolysis powered by a mix of renewable and non-renewable electricity, resulting in a variable carbon footprint. Key details include: -- Production Method: Electrolysis using grid electricity, which involves splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen using an electric current. -- Carbon Footprint: Variable, depending on the proportion of renewable versus non-renewable energy in the grid mix. The carbon footprint is lower if more renewable energy is used. -- Usage: A flexible option that can become greener as the grid incorporates more renewable energy sources. Yellow hydrogen can be used in fuel cells, industrial processes, and as a clean fuel for transportation. As the energy grid becomes more sustainable, yellow hydrogen will play an increasingly important role in the hydrogen economy. #ISESLab #YellowHydrogen #Electrolysis #RenewableEnergy #EnergyMix #HydrogenEconomy
