A pretty interesting M&A deal announced after the bell yesterday with Vertex agreeing to buy Alpine Immune Sciences for $4.9 billion. We are still seeing deals done in the marketplace despite the higher cost of capital, signaling that acquirers are ignoring the short term noise in the Fed interest rate discussion and instead focusing on the long term prospects for good drugs. I've written this many times before. Biotech investing can be frustrating at times, but patience and conviction can also be rewarded overnight in some cases.
