Hey 2024 is around the corner, are you into deciding whether you should start shifting jobs or stay where you currently are? Deciding when to shift jobs or change companies is a highly personal decision and depends on various factors. There isn't a fixed number of years of tenure that universally dictates when it's time to consider shifting. Different individuals may have different thresholds based on their career goals, job satisfaction, personal circumstances, and industry norms. However, here are some factors to consider when contemplating a job change: 1. Career Advancement: If you feel that your current position is not offering opportunities for growth or advancement, it might be a good time to explore new options. 2. What do you value? How to find your values in OB? Here I’ve listed some tips to find your values ✅Reflect on your personal values. What is important to you in life? What are your goals and dreams? What kind of person do you want to be? Once you have a good understanding of your personal values, you can start to think about how they relate to your work life. ✅Consider your work experiences. What have you enjoyed most about your work? What have you found to be most meaningful? What are you passionate about? Thinking about your work experiences can help you to identify the values that are most important to you in a work environment. ✅Talk to people you respect. Ask your mentors, colleagues, and friends what values they think are important in the workplace. What values do they admire in others? What values do they think are important for success? Talking to people you respect can help you to gain insights into different values and to think about which values are most important to you. ✅Take a values assessment. There are a number of values assessments available online and through career counselors. These assessments can help you to identify your personal and work values. ✅Write down your values. Once you have identified your values, write them down. This will help you to clarify your values and to keep them in mind when making decisions. Here are some additional questions you can ask yourself to help you identify your values in OB: 〽️What are my strengths and weaknesses? 〽️What kind of work environment do I thrive in? 〽️What kind of work do I find most meaningful? 〽️What kind of impact do I want to have on the world? 〽️What kind of legacy do I want to leave behind? ✔️By taking the time to reflect on your values, you can gain a better understanding of what is important to you in your work life. I have absorbed a lot of research and literature related to career development, workplace well-being and individual and team fulfillment and productivity. One study cited in Nine Lies About Work coming out of the Mayo clinic is one of the most interesting and relevant nuances in "finding your passion" research: This study indicated that people who were productive and satisfied at work spent AT LEAST 20% of their work time on tasks that they LOVED. THE MOST INTERESTING PART: while there was exponentially higher risk of burnout for those who spent less than 20% of work time on things they enjoyed, there was no statistically significant correlation of lower burnout between people who spent a far greater % of time on things they loved as compared to those who just met the 20% threshold. WHAT THIS MEANS: we can re-orient the "find your passion" and "crap jobs that just need to get done" discussions and objectives for individuals and organizations so that everyone has a more realistic approach to work goals and at the same time more people can experience meaning and fulfillment at work. How to get into your work mojo in this summer heat ?! Here's some advice 👇🏻 It's normal for summer, and even more so for August, to be a time of reduced #performance at both personal and team level. Consequently, targets need to be adapted to this situation in many companies where summer is synonymous with lower #productivity. Today, we'd like to give you a few keys to coping better with this season, so that it not only doesn't become a problem, but that you can make the most of it: ✅ Reorganize your tasks and test changes in the processes you follow. It's time to pause, step back and make small changes to the way you do things to gradually improve your routine. ✅ Give free rein to your creativity, pick up projects you've put aside during the year for lack of time. Observe, relax your mind and let the ideas flow. They could be the key to solving other problems. ✅ Encourage collaboration and do projects as a team. Proposing #teambuilding activities during working hours and/or making plans outside the office will create stronger bonds between people in the team, which is directly linked to better motivation and increased productivity in the medium term. ✅ Commit to training and resume courses that have been put on hold. And if you're a manager or part of the #humanresources team, this is the perfect time to work on a valuable training plan. The important thing is to plan ahead and accept that your productivity inevitably drops at this time of year. But this is not at odds with other valuable strategies that will indirectly have a positive effect on your performance after the summer 🌟.
