We need to stop assigning gender biases on people no matter what the age. Follow your dreams and be fierce! My child at a young age told me they no longer wanted to get toys from a specific toy store (that I will not name), because they specifically had "boys" and "girls" sections in the store. They told me they did not want to be told by the store which toys they "should" like. I love that!

Before the Romans came, princesses in the British Isles were expected to learn to fight and lead armies. There's also evidence of Viking and Saxon women being buried with weapons and shields. There's must be countless other examples from around the world. The world is a lot older than Disney.

With these skills, she could become not a Disney princess, but an epic Star Wars (Disney) jedi master.

What's wrong with dreaming of pretty things, dancing, and the like? Little girls are diverse. Not every one of them wants to defy expectations and turn their nose up at 'girl hobbies', but to excel in them. That's just as valid as this awesome kid who has clearly shown commitment and application to develop her skills. There have been some pretty badass Princesses in history, as well as some pretty average soldiers.

It is empowering to see young girls speaking up for what that want, and not afraid to go outside of the preset roles. I hope all children can speak up and show us what freedom to choose looks like. For myself, the younger generation has shown me to be fearless when it comes to speaking up, and advocating for myself in a positive way.

Maybe get shot down in flames but the important words are ‘ not every little girl…’ Which means some little girls do!! That’s ok if you are a princess with strength, integrity and passion for what you can do. ‘This girl can - be whatever she wants to be!!’
