This is an opinion piece so I can understand your opinion. My opinion is that resignations are to be treated individually on their own merit. Especially if the work environment is toxic and advance notice will exacerbate things. If Employers would like to actually have their employees treat them with respect, options should be laid out manuals. There should never be cookie cutter policies when it comes to human behavior.
Good morning, here is my community article for the week. I think it is unethical and unprofessional to resign immediately from your job without giving your employer adequate notice. Can you imagine you paid your teachers up to the end of August and once they got their pay, they resign.? This is not fair to the school or the students. Can you imagine you paid that employee on Friday and that employee send you a resignation letter on Monday effective immediately? Employers, ensure that you have a clause in their contract to cover this and take legal action to teach other employees a lesson. Please click on the link below

A few reminders for young people in 2024: 👉 It’s absolutely okay to still live with your parents (the majority of 18-34 year olds now do). 👉 Going above and beyond at work is great — but sometimes you will need to say ‘no’ for your own sanity. 👉 Taking time to find the right job is far, far more important than taking any job. You do it every day — it has to be right. 👉 Hierarchy and needless formality are, generally, a waste of time. Your instinct is correct about that. 👉 If the salary is competitive, they probably would have put it in the job description. Anything to add?

✴️ Get Coached to Unlock Your Potential & Transform Your Career ✴️ Individual, Group, & Outplacement Coaching Programs ✴️
I just heard about the popular slogan "Act Your Wage" (I missed the wave during the pandemic apparently), which is in the same family as "Quiet Quitting". In the workplace, there is a uptick in self advocacy behaviors. People don't want to do work if they are not being treated equitably and fairly compensated. And, they are paying attention. There's arguably less of a sense of "Sure, I'll take one for the team" especially if there's not adequate acknowledgement or appreciation from the higher ups. Jack Kelly offers up some good advice if you're feeling like things are not quite right, but at the same time you want to balance your desire to quit with your goals of keeping a good standing at work, getting good references, and building your career. 🏄🏾♀️ "The employer and employee can job-craft a solution to improve the situation." 🏄🏾♀️ "Rather than coasting, show management how awesome you are by being productive. The best revenge on your boss and company is to succeed and make more money than they earn." BUT...... 🏄🏾♀️ "If you’ve tried to grow and advance within your organization to no avail, don’t default to acting your wage. Take the loss and move on." So important when it comes to knowing when to begin discussing salary and compensation packages. There is so much good information in this article and I can recommend it fully.
Negotiation doesn't stop with salary. Commissions, schedule, childcare expenses, commuting costs, education reimbursement and equity are options. The list of non-cash choices is long. So, speak up, negotiation expert Linda Swindling tells Welcome to the Jungle. Swindling says to start negotiation when "buying signs" are clear. This means not in the first interview, but also before you receive an offer. Ask what flexibility exists with the topic you want to add to your package. Discuss your asks face-to-face (even if virtually). That way you can read the room, Swindling says. 👉 What benefits do you negotiate in addition to salary? Sometimes you have to listen to your gut feeling 🤔🤔🤔 . While money is a factor at the beginning of getting someone to be part of your team, it's not always a good motivator to stay. . 75% of the employees who thought of quitting did not like or align with some of the values of their company. The culture, man-management, decisions, affiliations and other personal factors are some of the reasons why they had to come to that decision. If they wanted more money, they will just have to request for a raise. Unless the company doesn't offer appraisals that helps improve their employees salary. . Money should be the last resort.. Ask what the problem really is.. get to understand how they are feeling and if it's money... by all means do the needful.. but don't set unrealistic targets simply because you added ₦10k to their salaries. . I come in peace ✌️ . #Recruitment #joblistings #jobopenings #hr #HumanResources #humanresourcesmanagement #humandevelopment #management #nysc #entryleveljobs
