The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Post

Jesus was the ultimate leader. As He was sleeping on a boat with His disciples, the wind howled around them, and the boat rocked violently. They woke him in a panic, shouting, “Master, carest thou not that we perish?” He calmly stood and said, “Peace, be still,” and the storm subsided (see Mark 4:36–41). Effective leaders, like Jesus, maintain composure amidst chaos. Christ inspired confidence and resilience among those He led through the chaos, and you can too. By first mastering your own emotions, you can guide others through whatever storm they may be facing. This is not an easy leadership skill to learn, but by working at it daily, we can learn to be leaders like Him. Have you had a leader who helped you through a challenging time? We’d love to hear about it in the comments! #Leadership #leadershipdevelopment #businessskills

Wow I LOVE this. I think it's useful to realize emotions are always going to be there. It's not the lack of strong emotions that makes someone calm, in control, and intentional. It's learning how to manage our emotions that makes a difference.

So often I find myself struggling with giving in and acting ungodly, especially when I am faced with others treating me unfairly, judgingly or just plain rude. It’s easy to get back at them and treat them the same as they treat me, say mean and nasty things to them and hurt them just as they have done me. But through prayer and pause, scripture and strength, I hear encouragement whispering to me that Christ would have never been so unforgiving. In those moments are where I find the most important lessons and humility. I am grateful for Christ’s love and example, urging me to be a better version of myself. I am learning how to be a better leader through Christ. ❤️

I had a wonderful bishop who helped me through some truly rough times! He counseled me with a memorative saying "You may not be able to control the situation and the people in it but you can control how you respond to it and them". I have always used this wise advice since then. I was blessed to have a true man of God as my bishop!!

There are so many tender mercies given to us on a daily basis, if we are mindful of them. This is one of those times. Reading this helped heal a part of my heart that was recently, deeply wounded by a person in a leadership position. I changed how I saw the situation. I chose to change from being offended, shamed, and embarassed, to "I love this person. This person is a child of God, doing their best." Such a simple concept, but such a powerful lesson. I chose to be the leader of my actions, and not allow another person to influence my choices and actions, towards myself. Choosing forgiveness, love, and empathy are powerful healing balms!

So well said. He is the ultimate example. Years ago I managed apartments when our kids were small and my boss was like this. The sky could be falling and he was so calm. He was a very methodical, quick thinker. His demeanor helped ground me and bring me back to what I could control and the steps to go out and do it.

I am glad that as members of His church we can follow the example of Him our exemplar Jesus Christ, making our efforts, work for the better good, Jesus was able to sleep because of team work of His disciples where they stopped the boat from capsising. He had trained them well! With a leader like Him and with others taking the slack, and us all doing what work we can (team work), great things can happen in the work place!

A sign hung in an office I worked in many years ago that stated 'Attitude is contagious, is yours worth catching?' I love that statement and it is so true! How we act/react in most situations has a tremendous influence on how those around respond. I've had the pleasure of facilitating the Emotional Resilience course several times. There are so many great thoughts and opportunities for us to learn from and improve how we handle situations. The better we can handle good and bad situations, the better leaders we can all be in every area of our lives.
